HABITAT Dry forest/woodland FOUND Australia: Northwestern Australia, N. Northern Territory, E. Queensland, New Guinea. SIZE 66 cm (26 ins) including tail of 44 cm (17.5 ins) DISTINCTIVE FEATURES A large frill around neck suported by rods of cartledge. Normally frill hangs above the shoulders, but in moments of excitement it will raise up by the rods moving upwards. There are usually colors of red and yellow under frill. EXTRA INFO. If threatened, the lizard will run away on it's hind legs with it's forelegs held tight against it's body. The lizard uses it's frill to appear larger to any likely predator. |
