HABITAT Coasts, forested slopes, rocky seashores. FOUND East Australia SIZE 73 cm (28.75 ins) inc. tail of 50 cm (19.75 ins) DESTINCTIVE FEATURES Color Varies over it's wide range. It always has a long powerful tail and a crest running along it's body and tail. Thick dark line extending from the eye to the lower neck. EXTRA INFO It's tree living. It usually lies on a branch overhanging a river or stream, falling into water if disturbed. It eats insects, small animals like frogs, and fruits and berries. The breeding female lays about 8 eggs under a rock or in a pit she digs in the soil. They hatch in 10-14 weeks. |
