Rights, Responsibilities and Privileges of the Degrees

 

Pre-dedicant and Dedicant

 

Rights: To be treated with respect and kindness; to be given patience and understanding as questions arise and the learning process begins. To be given an honest assessment of one’s chances of continuing training within the Coven; if not possible for whatever reason, to be given some resources upon which one may draw, vis-à-vis, finding a new group to study with.

 

Responsibilities: To attend all classes proffered; to read all material as instructed and meet all requirements as stated above. To act with circumspection and honor in relation to keeping silent about the materials, the members of the group and any contact information relating to any person involved. To respect the copyright laws of the materials given out in classes.

 

Privileges: of the: To attend any Circle or meeting that the Teachers allow or invite you to. To be given without reservation all materials ordinarily given out in the classes; to be able to keep those materials whether or not one continues training. To declare one’s self as a seeker/student of the Path with “this” teacher.

 

First-degree Rights:

One may claim to having been initiated to the first degree in the Tradition

One may cast Circle for personal and emergency use

One may continue to study for initiation into the second degree

One may begin to copy the First-degree part of the book*

One may begin to study a particular field of interest, in depth

First-degree Responsibilities:

One may know the history of the Tradition and their lineage back to the founders

One may study and learn all the lessons set forth by the Coven Leaders

One may begin to copy the First-degree part of the book*

One may begin to use Elements of personality to bring focus and health to self

One may continue to hone their abilities in all areas of the Craft

One may take on the duty of helping to form rituals for Coven use

One may assist the Coven Leaders with tasks they deem appropriate

One may attend all Sabbats, Moons and classes set forth by the Coven Leaders

One may assist in set up and clean up of Sabbats and Coven workings

One may wish to inform their Elders of any situation that bodes trouble for Tradition or Craft

First-degree Privileges:

One may copy the First-degree portion of the book*

One may wear jewelry of that degree

One may stand invoke the Quarters in Coven or in open Sabbat Rituals

On may attend any initiation Rite of the First-Degree of the Tradition after one’s own initiation into First

One may work magic after having first checked with Coven Leaders as to its appropriateness

 

 

Second-degree Rights:

One may claim to having been initiated to the second degree of the Tradition

One may copy the second-degree portion of the book*

One may cast Circle for personal, emergency or full Moons with others present

One may begin to study for their Third degree

One may, if gifted, begin to scry or do divination for the coven

One may stand in for Priest or Priestess as an Acting Priest or Priestess if necessary

 

Second-degree Responsibilities:

One may study and learn all the lessons set forth by the Coven Leaders

One may copy the second-degree portion of the book*

One may begin to do more in-depth, inner workings on their own personal life

One may begin to learn how to speak appropriately in public about the Craft

One may begin to assist others in class as a tutor, under the Leaders’ guidance

One may assist in set up and clean up of Sabbats and Coven workings

One may wish to inform their Elders of any situation that bodes trouble for Tradition or Craft

 

            Second-degree Privileges:

One may wear the jewelry of the degree

One may copy the second-degree portion of the book*

One may attend all Sabbats, Moons, Dark Moons & ceremonies as deemed by Coven Leaders

One may assist in Coven activities of all sorts as deemed by Coven Leaders

One may work magic after having first checked with Coven Leaders as to its appropriateness

 

One may attend any initiation Rite of the Second-degree of the Tradition after one’s own initiation into 2nd.

 

Third-Degree Rights:

One may lay claim to the Third-Degree Initiation of the Tradition

One may begin to copy the Third-degree portion of the book*

One may begin to study for the Fourth-Degree (Ordination)

                        Third-Degree Responsibilities:

One may study and learn all the lessons set forth by the Coven Leaders

One may assist in set up and clean up of Sabbats and Coven workings

One may copy the Third-Degree portion of the book*

One may begin to prepare lesson plans and an outline for teaching

One may fill in for the Priest or Priestess as circumstances dictate

One may wish to inform their Elders of any situation that bodes trouble for Tradition or Craft

Third-Degree Privileges:

One may copy the Third-Degree portion of the book*

One may work magic and may wish to check with Elders as to its appropriateness

One may begin to gather all tools and materials necessary to the running of a Coven

One may attend any Third-degree initiation Rite of the Tradition after one’s own 3rd  or another Tradition, if appropriate

           

Fourth-Degree, Ordination (A year and a day after Third-Degree Initiation)

One may perform Handfastings, Rites for the Dead, Wiccanings, etc.

One may work magic, using all their knowledge of circumstances, karma, etc.

One may found a Coven and take up the reigns of responsibility, autonomously, still maintaining contact with Home Coven and Leaders

One may, on their own recognizance, choose which Circle of other Traditions they wish to attend

One may keep a register of all Initiations, Wiccanings, Handfastings, Rites for the Dead, etc.

One may choose to call for a Council of Elders for any troublesome circumstance

One may wish to inform their Elders of any situation that bodes trouble for Tradition or Craft

            Fifth-Degree, Elder (Five years of active teaching, running Coven) One is pretty much a force of their own reckoning at this stage.
