| Visakhapatnam, the San Francisco of
India, is an important port city,in Andhra Pradesh, on the east coast of India. Eco
Foundation is sponsoring the preservation of the last remant of a mangrove forest in
Visakhapatnam coastal area. This forest is nestled between the naval base and
Visakhapatnam Port Trust. Prof. Varaprasada Reddy, Ecology Department of Andhra University
has been toiling hard to preserve this 5 Km x 1 Km stretch of mangroves. Eco Foundation is
sponsoring guided tours for children to visit this area to make them aware of the problem. Committee |
