The Race Against Global Devastation
My Fellow Environmentalist:
Throughout the world you can find seperate independent environmental organizations. Each working towards it's own goals of preserving a specific part of the environment. This is important, because the environment as a whole can not exist without the local environments. However, no matter how much we do to preserve the local environment by pecautions on the local level, it still leaves the local environment open to threat of Global Warming, which can only be handled beyond local scale.
I do not ask your organization to give up the worthy fights it’s now fighting, and I can truly tell that they are worthy fights. I am also aware that you know that Global Warming poses a great threat. However, I believe a little effort and resources need to be set aside for a new way to efficiently fight global warming, for global warming threatens all aspects of the environmental movement. Because of this all the worldwide environmental organizations everywhere, all operating separately and independently, should put aside just a little bit of resources to work together against the common threat. Aside from the environmental organizations it should also be possible to get the help and cooperation of the governments of varius nations governments, individuals, and even the dreaded corporations.
All these groups often don’t understand you or your reasons, even though I personally consider them important. However even in their own limited language of money and economics they have plenty of reasons to help with the cause, even if up until now they’ve ignored them.
REASONS
A. If temperatures keep rising the oceans will rise considerably. People with large investments in beachfront property have a lot to lose, as well as large time corporations who often have several large scale developments located by the sea. People who make their living from the seas could also face
major losses since the sea creatures they rely on would not be able to use their usual grounds for feeding or breeding, since they would be too deep. Newly acquired seabed would also be of little good, since the land was only recently seabed. The result would be a devastation to both the species of fish or crustacean, as well to the people who relied on them. When you look at a globe and take into account how many nations of the
world include coastal land, and considering how much they would loose if the ocean level rose, it should be enough to get enough cooperation to take care of any concerns over “budget issues”. This still doesn’t even include the amount of agricultural devastation that would occur from global warming, an issue countries have to take as important considering what a hard time they have with finding enough satisfactory food as there is.
THE OZONE LAYER
The problem of Ozone depletion is also important. Like global warming it can bring world wide environmental devastation, so it also needs to be taken care of. Like
global warming there are reasons for all environmental organizations as well as governments and companies to get involved.
PLAUSIBLE ALLIES
Nations in the southern hemisphere have the most immediate threat from ozone depletion, since the ozone hole is located right above Antarctica. This would be reason to believe that such nations as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, and England and France who have several dependencies
in the South Pacific. Most of these nations have already started to feel the effect. There are also nations in the Northern hemisphere who would have reason for helping out, not only because the effects of ozone depletion have started here, but from loss of friendly relations with countries in the southern
hemisphere feeling the effect of their environmental neglect. As well as nations, individuals have their reasons for making contributions. If they are not for care of the environment, as it would be for a lot of people, it would be because they are sun worshipers and are sick of dangerous sunburns on the beaches. This is also why companies investing in beachfront property would find the cause worthy, through fear of loss of business. It would probably also be possible to get the cooperation of organizations geared at preventing cancer, especially skin cancer. In addition, the ozone depleting CFC gases are also a greenhouse gas, so as well as taking care of one world devastating danger you are also helping to prevent another.
THE RAINFOREST
The preservation of the rainforest can also be tied into the danger of global warming, from the depletion of plants that help to convert the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide into life giving oxygen. The method of burning scores of acres of forest also
contribute to the dangerous greenhouse gasses. This is enough reason for several of the groups and nations geared at curving
the greenhouse affect, to help preserve the rainforests. As well as this, it should be possible to recruit the help of native American organizations, considering there are still native tribes living traditionally in the rainforest. The rainforest also holds the possibility of finding an organic cure for cancer, as well as other human plagues. Medical organizations, as well as individuals who want to find cures would probably help in the fight of preservation as well.
Truly the only thing stopping action is the cost of money, which is kept at the center of the issue. However, when you consider how many people countries and organizations could be convinced through undeniable facts about what will happen,
getting enough money shouldn’t be a problem. As far as the ozone goes, it should be possible to have it be mandatory that
CFCs from cars and refrigerators be caught and stored in plastic bags, in some places it’s already being done, and it offers another reason to encourage recycling.
There is also a hypothesized theory, that was in Popular Mechanics, that you could set up floating, solar powered platforms to statically collect loose CFC molecules. Considering how much money resources could be obtained it should be possible to do this, as well as make it reasonable and affordable to curb CFC production at factories worldwide. With international cooperation from countries along the ocean it should be possible to promote factory and car regulations, like and better than the ones in place in certain countries, in other places that have not paid very close attention to the environment before. A lot of conservatives have also pasted environmentalists with such labels as being irrational or Communist. Here is a chance to prove to them that they are wrong.

ON BET, OUR VOICES, LAST SUNDAY. BEV SMITH WAS IN HOUSTON TALKING WITH THE RESIDENTS.
As some of you may already know, the area in Houston on which a new housing project was built, is very contaminated. It appears that this piece of land was once a storage facility for toxic chemicals, including a safehaven for the production of methane gas. Well, it appears that the owners of this piece of toxic landscape, neglected to inform the developers of the KENNEDY HEIGHTS housing projects, that houses 300-500 residents. And I don't have to tell you who the majority of these residents look like!.......
To make a long story short, there have been reported cases of known birth defects of our beautiful black children in this area, as well as, people that are surprisingly stricken with Cancer. The owners of this property is none other than CHEVRON GAS CO. So in support of our residents in Kennedy Heights, we want Chevron to finance the moving of each one of these residents to a safer housing community.
BUT IN THE MEANTIME,. . . . SINCE CHEVRON IS NOT MEETING OUR DEMANDS, NOT TO MENTION, BEING NON-REMORSEFUL - WE ARE ASKING EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU TO NOT PURCHASE ANY GAS, CHIPS, DRINKS, SODAS, ETC....FROM CHEVRON UNTIL THIS CASE BECOMES SETTLED. (Pass it on..)
Just because it's not your Residence, or your City, or your Community, doesn't mean that this cannot happen to you. We have to take care of our own!
