50 Simple Things

Young Adults Can Do
To Help Our Environment

1. Recycle Glass

Every Month, Americans throw away enough glass bottles and jars to fill a skyscraper. All those bottles and jars can be used again by recycling. The energy saved by recycling one glass bottle will light a 100-Watt light bulb for four hours!

2. Buy Now, Play Later

Toys are made from natural resources -- the treasures of the Earth. Toys that break right away are garbage. You can help save the Earth's treasures by buying toys that are well-made and will last.

3. Don't Can It!

Soda cans are made of a metal called aluminum. Aluminum is used for airplanes, cars, bicycles, and many household items -- not just soda cans. That's why it's important to save aluminum whenever we can. So recycle those cans.

4. Precycle It!

Over half of the plastic we buy and throw away each year is just for packaging. All packaging uses up resources, so when ever you buy something, you have a terrific chance to help the Earth! Try to buy things that come in packages that can by recycled or are made of materials that have already been recycled.

5. Pass It On

Americans throw out enough garbage to fill a football stadium from top to bottom every day! You can help reduce garbage by passing on clothes, books, and toys you've out grown rather then tossing them out. Trade with you friends, or take these things to a second-hand store or Goodwill.

Well here are the first 5. More to come....... If you have any ideas you'd like to add please send them to me.
