Mr. William Turner


Rev. William D. Turner. B.A.

The Reverend William D. Turner preached in Garden of Eden and Blue Mountain in 1926. He died in Montreal on March 18th, 1957 at the age of 84. Born in Almonte, Ont., in 1873, he received his elementary and secondary edu- cation there. After graduating in Arts from McGill University in 1898, and from Presbyterian College, Montreal, in 1901, he served his Lord in the ministry of The Presbyterian Church in Canada for fifty years -at Golden, B.C., Mono Mills, Norval, Blythe, in Ontario, Calvin- Westminster, Montreal, then Hillsburgh, Winchester and Burnbrae in Ontario. During his ministry Mr. Turner was modera- tor of the Presbyteries of Brockville and Orangeville, and served for a time on the Board of Presbyterian College, Montreal. He was a member of the Masonic Order. The funeral service was conducted in the H.C. Bowes Funeral Chapel in Cobourg, Ont., on March 21st, by Rev. E.C. Kelloway of Trinity United Church, Cobourg, assisted by Rev. Harold Turner of Bowmanville, a nephew, Mr. Mahaffey, a fellow graduate of Presbyterian College, and Rev. J. F. Nute of Orangeville repre- senting the Presbytery of Orangeville where Mr. Turner's name had been on the Appendix to the Roll. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Cobourg.
