Archibald Thompson preached at Blue Mountain and Garden of Eden 1927-
1928.
"Sincere regret was expressed when information was received March 3rd, 1937,
of the passing of the Reverend Archibald Thompson.
Following an active forty years of service with The Presbyterian Church in
Canada, Mr. Thompson retired due to ill health, and spend his remaining years in
Oakville and Port Credit, endearing himself to the residents there.
Mr. Thompson was born at Cold Springs, Northumberland County, Ont., in
1864, of Scottish parentage. He was educated at Cold Springs Public School, grad
uating from Cobourg Collegiate. Continuing his studies, he received his Bachelor of
Arts Degree from Victoria College, taking his post-graduate work in Princeton
University, N.J.
In 1893 he obtained the Degree of Bachelor of Divinity from Queen's University,
specializing in Hebrew. Married at Baltimore, Ont.
Mr. Thompson served in pastorates in Western Canada, Ontario, and Nova
Scotia, these being Gainsboro, Man., Chatsworth, Hepworth, Rothsay, Newburgh,
Summerstown, Thorndale in Ontario, and Blue Mountain Nova Scotia.
The funeral service was held in Cold Springs Church, March Sth. The surviving
relatives are two daughters, Mrs. K. C. Watson and Miss M. Thompson, Port
Credit, Mrs. Thompson having predeceased her husband two years previously."
