James was born in Seattle, Wash., on Nov. 12, 1907.
He moved with his parents to Plymouth, Pictou Co., when he
was around 1 yr. old. He attended Plymouth, Stellarton
and New Glasgow schools. He received his B.A. from
McGi11 University and graduated in Theology from the
Pres. College in Montreal in 1932. While attending
McGi11 he took courses in Theology so he served in
mis sion charges during this time. His first charge was in
Mulgrave -he also was at Loch Lomond, Cape Breton,
River John and Scotsburn. His summer appointment was in
Blue Mountain and the Garden of Eden. I know he stayed
out of college for a year to minister to the four congregations.
He served as student minister in Scotsburn and West Branch
in 1931 -they had supply for the winter and called him to
be their minister when he graduated in 1932.
He was ordained and inducted at West Branch Church
during the fall and winter of 1933-34. He travelled
to Acadia University for his M.A. degree, while carrying
on his work at Scotsburn.
He passed away on June 9, 1935 following complications
from a gallbladder
operation.
