of the late E.H. Humphreys and Eliza Dunbar Humphreys,
he received his early education in Pictou County before
receiving his Arts Degree at Acadia University.
He attended Presbyterian College, Montreal and received
his Theology degree from Knox College, Toronto.
As a student he served several mission fields in the
Presbytery of Pictou, N.S. Moser River, Lochaber,
McLellan Brook and Blue Mountain, Sunny Brae charge
and Great Village in Halifax Presbytery. Mr. Humphreys
served 37 years as minister of St. Matthew's in Saint John, N.B.
from where he retired due to health reasons in December 1980.
He is now Minister Emeritus of the church.
Mr. Humphreys is a Past Moderator of the Atlantic Synod
and the Presbytery of Saint John, Past President
of the Saint John and N.B. Ministerial Associations,
Past Chaplain of the Sto Andrew's Society and the
Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club, Past Grand Chaplain
of the Grand Masonic Lodge of N.B.
Mr. Humphreys. and wife Helen continue to live in
Saint John, N.B. Their son Blair is a Correctional Officer,
David is a student at Acadia University,
and daughter Diane is in Staff Development at Centracare.
Mr. Humphreys has since passed away in
Saint John, New Brunswick, on Aug. 8, 1987.
