William Joseph was George Doherty's last born. Born on August 7, 1940. He attended University of Southern Mississippi where he graduated with a Business Degree. His biggest accomplishment while at Southern Miss. was meeting a lovely young lady from Gulport, Frances Carol Parnell. They married on April 27, 1963. His first "Real Job" was at Smokies Sporting Goods where he worked in a field that suited his pasion for athletics. He soon found it was time to change jobs and went to work for McGregor's Furniture, where he worked until July 2000. He, at 60 made the move into the business owner league when he opened Doherty's Furniture & Bedding.
