Luis says it is a big deal to him, he needs that arrest to try and make detective. Sheridan asks if making detective is that important to him? He says yes, to both him and his family because it means an extra hundred dollars a week. Sheridan can't believe he is getting worked up over a hundred dollars, but Luis says to him and his family it means a lot. He tells her that rich people like her don't know what its like living from paycheck to paycheck. After he spots off a huge list of what he has to worry about, Sheridan tells him that she had no idea. Luis says of course she doesn't, and she also doesn't care. Sheridan says she is not going to apologize for having money. Luis says it isn't about the money, it is what money does to one's value. Luis says the rich can never intermingle and marry, but Sheridan asks why not? Luis gives her an example, a rich woman marries a poor man, where will they live if he's poor? Sheridan tells him that the days of the man paying for everything are long gone, she can pay! Luis asks what will the man pay for? Sheridan says what is important is that the man loves the woman, but Luis says a woman wouldn't have any respect for the man in the long run. Luis says a man has to feel like he is taking care of his family. Sheridan turns his scenario around and asks what if the man was rich and the woman was poor? Luis says that is basically the same thing. Sheridan tells Luis that is ridiculous and goes against everything he just said. She tells Ethan that Theresa would be better off if she married a rich man because he could take care of her, but Luis says people would only accuse her of marrying him for his money. Luis wants his sister to marry a man who understands and loves her for who she is. He says he won't let his sister's sweet beautiful heart of hers by being broken by becoming involved with people like the Cranes. Sheridan tells him that his mom works for them, and Luis says she is the only one who does, and he hopes not for long. Sheridan asks "what about Theresa?" Luis asks what about her? Luis says Theresa has a part time job working somewhere else, he'd never let her work for the Cranes! Luis gets a call from the station about a purse snatcher at the opera house, so he decides to head over there. SHeridan refuses to let him drive himself there, so she drives him.
At the ballet, Ethan and Theresa applaud as the curtain closes. Ethan asks her what she thought of her first ballet? Theresa says it was wonderful and she enjoyed the story, even if it is a fairy tale. In her own little fantasy world, Ethen tells Theresa that it is not a fairy tale, it is real. He tells her that he realized that tonight being with her, he's fallen in love with her. Ethan asks Theresa to marry him. Back in reality, Ethan snaps Theresa out of her little fantasy. Ethan asks Theresa if the ballet has given her hope for her own Prince Charming? Theresa says it has. Ethan is glad to hear that because love is what is important, not two people's backgrounds. Theresa thanks Ethan for the wonderful evening, but Ethan says it isn't over yet. Ethan tells her the theater will have a private party, and she can even meet the dancers. However he warns her that some of the theater society members are snobs. Theresa tells him that she's dreamed of going to one of these parties all her life. When she says she doesn't know if she'll fit in, Ethan tells her that she'll be the smash of the party. He tells her that he usually dreads these affairs, but he's had a lot of fun tonight because of her. Theresa loves the party and recognizes many of the people there. Ethan introduces her to some of the snobs, who only want to know where Gwen is. Ethan tells one lady that Gwen is working, so Theresa, his mother's assistant, agreed to accompany him tonight. The one woman says Ivy Crane told her all about her and how she couldn't get by without her help. Theresa and the woman start talking about fashion, and Ethan is impressed. The woman even invites Theresa to join her at the country club sometime. Later a photographer takes a photo of Theresa and Ethan to be published in the Herald! Theresa eventually realizes what a big mistake she has made, if Luis sees that picture she is dead! Ethan asks her what is wrong? She explains her dilemma to him. Ethan tells her that he'll go talk to the photographer and see if he can fix things. Ethan asks for the roll of film, but the photographer refuses. Ethan ends up buying the roll from the photographer, but Ethan isn't aware that the photographer changed the roll and sold Ethan an empty roll of film! The photographer wonders why Ethan didn't want a photo of him published with that girl. Sheridan and Luis show up at the ballet, and Luis begins looking for the mugger. Luis can't believe his eyes when he spots Ethan and Theresa across the room!
