Back at home, Eve tells TC that Liz turned down their offer to stay here. He wonders why, and he wonders who that horrible woman Liz ran into was. Eve tells her that she should forget about Liz and that woman. TC begins to think that this woman who has a hidden past, he knows exactly who it is. TC wonders if it is Rebecca Hotchkiss, but then realizes that it couldn’t be her because her pictures have been in magazines since she was a little girl. TC keeps wondering who this woman is, and Eve says what does it matter, perhaps this woman has changed TC says it has been his experience that people don’t change that much, they are either good or bad. Suddenly, Liz shows up at the Russell House to destroy Eve!
At the hospital, Ethan proposes to Theresa, and she accepts. Of course it was all in Ethan’s head, he never proposed to her. Theresa did walk in, and she found Ethan in a daze. She is worried, but he says he is okay. Theresa tells Ethan that there is something she needs to tell him, and he says there is something he has to tell her. Theresa goes first and says she is sorry for all the lies, she is sorry for her mistakes, and she is paying for them all. She tells him that they had an incredible love once, and if he could find it in his heart to forgive her and take her back, they could be incredible together again. Theresa says she wants to be a different person; she wants to trust in their love and stop fearing that she will lose him. She says if she will take her back, he won’t regret it. Suddenly, Gwen walks in and is furious. She tells Ethan that Theresa told her that she wouldn’t go after Ethan again, but here she is. Gwen tells Theresa to lie all she wants to Ethan, but she will never have him! Ethan tells Gwen that it is okay, but Gwen says it isn’t. Gwen tells Theresa that Ethan has told her umpteen times they have no future! Theresa says the only reason she came back here is because she heard about a couple with no hope that is now together, and she wanted to see if they had a chance. Theresa tells Ethan that she loves him so much and wants him to pick the right person to spend her life with, even if it isn’t her. Gwen says don’t worry, she isn’t that person! Theresa says she couldn’t stand it if Ethan lost the love of his life because of her, and then she leaves. Gwen tells Theresa that it is time for her to go now, so Theresa leaves. A nurse tells Ethan that he has been cleared to head home now, so he signs his discharge papers. Gwen overhears the nurse ask Ethan if he proposed yet, and he says no. Gwen hopes Ethan will ask her soon, and before they leave, Gwen asks Ethan if there is anything he needs to ask her?
Beth, along with her mother, head to Sheridan’s cottage to find out what is going on. Mrs. Wallace says Luis will never give up on Sheridan, because Sheridan will never admit Antonio is the only man she loves. They arrive at the cottage just as Luis hears Sheridan tell Antonio that she loves him and only him. In her head, Sheridan tells herself that Antonio is the only man for her now that she has lost Luis. Back in their car, Beth and her mom argue. Beth wants to sneak up and spy on Luis, but Beth’s mom insists on coming too. Beth tells her no way; her walker will give them away. Back outside, Luis thinks it is finally over, and he has lost Sheridan forever. Beth sees Luis is hurting, and she says something has happened, and now she has to come up with a way to comfort Luis. Mrs. Wallace tells her that God will punish her! Beth threatens to take her mother to the most horrible nursing home ever if she doesn’t stay in the car. Mrs. Wallace gives, and Beth goes after Luis. Beth finds Luis on the docks, and they talk. Luis tells her that it is officially over between him and Sheridan, Antonio is the one Sheridan truly loves and is meant to be with. Beth asks Luis if he knows for sure? Luis says he knows after seeing them together. Beth asks if there is anything she can do, and he says no, but he thanks her for being here. She tells him that she just wants to see him happy. Beth takes Luis out for a bite to eat, and they discuss what happened tonight. Luis feels terrible about what happened, and he says it wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t drunk. Beth asks Luis where he and Sheridan stand now, is it really over? Luis says it is.
Back in the cottage, Antonio asks Sheridan what she wanted to tell him earlier, and what does Luis have to do with it? Sheridan thinks about it, and as she tries to tell him it was nothing big, Antonio gets another headache. She asks him what pills has he taken today? He says he doesn’t remember, and she tells him that he must be more careful because he could die. Antonio is that what she is so emotional about and keeping from him? Is he going to die? She says nothing, and he tells Sheridan that he knows he is dying, and he has been trying to deny it. He thinks that is what upset Sheridan, she saw Luis and Beth with one another and knows they will never have that. He realizes know that is why everyone has been acting so odd around him, and everything that happened at the hospital. He asks Sheridan if that is what is bothering her? Sheridan says of course that is not it, and she hopes to herself that Luis understands why she is doing this. Antonio suggests they go out and have a nice dinner. They end up at the Lobster Shack, where Luis and Beth are also dining! Luis and Sheridan are both hurt to see one another with their rivals.
On the docks, Sam takes a walk, and is followed by Ivy. Ivy calls David and tells him to make his move on Grace, she is home and all alone! Ivy then moves in on Sam! Ivy says she sees that he is thinking about losing Grace to David, but Sam says he has not lost Grace and will never lose her! Sam thinks Grace was just being kind to David, but Ivy thinks otherwise! Sam says he knows Grace still loves him, but Ivy thinks Sam is just making excuses. Ivy says she hates to say this, but she thinks Grace is alone with David right now! Sam says Grace would never, and runs off. Ivy smiles because Sam should arrive and find Grace in David’s arms!
At the Bennett’s, David shows up. Grace is pacing, she is worried about Sam because he hasn’t come home. David offers to stay with her until he does. David offers to tell Sam that what happened between them was just two people caught up in the heat of the moment. Grace doesn’t know, and she tells David that perhaps he shouldn’t be here just in case Sam comes home. David refuses to leave her alone when she is this upset, and he holds her. Grace ends up pulling away and says this isn’t right. She feels like she is taking advantage of him, but he says he is a big boy. David tells Grace that he just wants to be here for her. He leans into kiss her, but she pulls away again. She tells him that she has feelings for him, but her heart belongs to Sam. Grace ends up crying on David’s shoulder, which Sam shows up to see. Sam can’t believe this, and Ivy says she told him so. Ivy says Grace has chosen David, he must accept that. Sam can’t believe this. Ivy invites Sam home with her so they can talk, but Sam says no because he has to try and talk to Grace. Ivy says fine, she’ll leave him alone. Ivy, however, sabotages her wheel chair so it no longer works. Sam offers to look at it, but says he can’t fix it because it looks like she is missing a part. Ivy says she’ll call the house, but Sam says no, he’ll take her home. Sam picks Ivy up out of the chair and walks her to the car. David sees what is going on through the window, and continues to manipulate Grace.
Theresa prays to God to let Ethan choose her over Gwen. Whitney ends up finding Theresa in tears, and asks her what is wrong. Theresa says she is praying for another chance with Ethan. She tells Whitney that she doesn’t know if God is even listening to her. Whitney says God listens to all prayers, but he doesn’t grant them all. Theresa says God obviously doesn’t like women who try and take other women’s men. Theresa switches the topic to Whitney and Chad, and she knows that she and Chad will be together as they were meant to be. Theresa says her problem is that Ethan doesn’t want to be with her, she knows that now because Ethan had nothing to say to her and let her walk off after she spilled her heart out to him.
At the hospital, Gwen asks Ethan if he has something to ask her before they leave? Ethan says there is something. As Gwen waits, Ethan thinks about Theresa’s declaration of love. Ethan ends up asking Gwen out to dinner. She says okay, and asks where? Ethan says at home. Gwen thinks Ethan is planning a romantic proposal at home, so they leave.
Ethan and Gwen arrive home, and Rebecca has champagne already out and is ready to celebrate. Gwen tries to gesture to her mother that it hasn’t happened yet, but she opens her mouth and says she’s ready to celebrate their good news! Ethan has no idea what Rebecca is speaking about, and Rebecca figures out the proposal hasn’t happened. She makes excuses, and she asks Gwen if Theresa interfered again? Gwen says no, and she thinks he wanted to wait for the perfect place to propose. Rebecca is sure Gwen is right, and decides to make herself scarce. Rebecca tells Ethan to sit down and relax, and Gwen pours Ethan some champagne. Rebecca fakes being tired, so she retires to her room. Gwen and Ethan drink champagne, and Rebecca spies on them and waits for Ethan to propose. Suddenly, Theresa walks in and finds Ethan and Gwen enjoying time together.
At the Lobster Shack, Luis sees Sheridan arrive with Antonio, and Sheridan sees Luis dining with Beth. Beth says they can leave, but Luis says no. Meanwhile, Antonio wants to ask Luis and Beth to join them, but Sheridan says “No!” He asks why not, and she says perhaps they want to be alone. Antonio says they should at least go say hello. Back at Luis and Beth’s table, Beth says it is obvious Antonio and Sheridan are a genuine couple, she just can’t believe she never noticed it before. Antonio comes over and invites them to join him and Sheridan, but they turn him down. Luis and Beth end up dancing, as do Antonio and Sheridan. Antonio ends up asking to dance with Beth, which Sheridan objects to. Antonio says they will soon be one big happy family, so they swap partners. Antonio tells Beth that he knows what the secret everyone has been keeping from him, he knows he is sick. Beth says medical science is making breakthroughs every day. Antonio says he knows, but in case anything happens, he wants her and Luis to look after Sheridan. Beth is stunned, but agrees. Meanwhile, Sheridan asks Luis if he and Beth are back together. Luis says they are just friends, but Sheridan doubts that. She says they must have very different ideas of what being friends means. Luis asks her what in the hell that means? She says he knows exactly what she means! Beth and Antonio interrupt their fight, Antonio says he’s ready to go home. Antonio and Sheridan leave, and Luis wonders what is eating them, and why they tore out of here so fast. Beth ends up telling Luis that Antonio said he wanted to take Sheridan home and make love to her. Meanwhile, Sheridan begins to wonder if she has misunderstood Luis, until someone tells her that he overheard Luis telling Beth that the two of them had broken up, and he tells Sheridan how sorry he is.
At the Bennett’s, Grace and David wait for Sam to return. Grace hears Sam’s car, and goes to the door only to see him driving off. She wonders where he could be going. She is also puzzled by the possibility that someone was in the passenger seat, and that it looked like a woman. David gives Grace neck massages to try and get her to relax, but Grace says she can’t relax knowing Sam thinks he has lost her. David points out that she has caught Sam with Ivy several times, but Grace says those were engineered by Ivy, and that tonight was her fault and no one else’s. Grace calls the station to find out about Sam, and learns he is at the Crane mansion! Grace decides to head to the Cranes to find out what is going on. David tries to talk her out of it, but she says she has loved Sam most of her adult life and she doesn’t know what she would do without him. David says he can’t drive her because John has his car, but Grace says it is best she go alone. David calls Ivy to warn her that Grace is headed to the mansion. That gives Ivy and even nastier idea, and David begs Ivy not to hurt Grace. Ivy says this is an opportunity they cannot pass up!
At the mansion, Theresa interrupts Ethan and Gwen’s private time, which royally ticks off Gwen. Theresa says she had no idea they were in here, and runs off. Rebecca scolds Theresa for trying to ruin Ethan’s proposal. Rebecca tells Theresa that Gwen has won, and she will never marry Ethan. Theresa says she didn’t know what was going on, but Rebecca doesn’t believe her. Rebecca tells Theresa to have some dignity and let Ethan and Gwen have their moment. Theresa tells Rebecca that if marrying Gwen will bring Ethan joy then she will move on with her life and let Ethan move on with his. She also reminds Rebecca that this is still her house, and she will go anywhere she wants to. Theresa goes upstairs to be with her baby, and Rebecca stands guard. Back in the living room, Gwen asks Ethan what he was going to ask her? As Rebecca spies on them, she is interrupted by Sam carrying Ivy into the mansion! They also interrupt Ethan and Gwen’s night, because Sam says Ivy’s wheelchair broke down. Sam puts Ivy on the couch, and Ivy and Ethan go to get Ivy’s other wheelchair, and Gwen goes to get ivy a drink. Rebecca scolds Ivy because she just ruined Ethan’s proposal! Meanwhile, Theresa goes upstairs and finds baby Ethan missing and the window open. She thinks the worst has happened. In the garage, Ethan talks to Sam about how he is thinking of proposing to Gwen tonight, and they end up talking about David. Sam says he thinks Grace is so confused that he doesn’t know who she wants to be with. Ethan says this shakes his faith in the whole institution of marriage. Sam tells him to just go with his heart. Ethan admits that he is not sure he is over Theresa. Sam says he shouldn’t move ahead with Gwen if he has unresolved feelings for Theresa. Ethan ends up asking Sam if Grace chose David, would he and his mother? He apologizes for sounding like a kid with divorced parents. Sam says he’ll always have feelings for Ivy, but he’s not about to give up on his marriage to Grace. Back upstairs, the maid had little Ethan, and she says something seems to be wrong with the baby. She was trying to calm him down. Theresa says the baby is burning up! Phyllis says she will get Ethan, but Theresa says no, and asks her to call Dr. Russell. Back downstairs, Sam and Ethan get Ivy into her wheelchair, and Sam says he should get going. Ivy doesn’t think Sam has anything to rush home for, and he realizes she is right. Sam ends up going to call the station, and Ivy follows him. Rebecca makes herself scare so Ethan and Gwen can return to what they were up to earlier. Meanwhile, Eve shows up to see the baby. Baby Ethan is very sick, and Theresa begs Eve not to let him die! Back downstairs, Ethan is about to propose to Gwen
At the Bennett’s, David worries about Ivy’s plan to give Grace an eyeful when she arrives at the mansion. David drives and upset Grace to the mansion, and she envisions the worst, Sam making love to Ivy!
At the cottage, Sheridan is thinking about Luis, and Antonio knows something is bothering her. He thinks she is worried about his health, but he realizes she is keeping something else from him. Sheridan says there is nothing else they need to talk about. Antonio says he just saw Eve’s car heading to the house, and they could go talk to her about his problems. Sheridan thinks that is a good idea.
At the mansion, Sam continues to drink his spiked coffee and chat with Ivy. She asks Sam to get her some grape juice, and pretends to have an accident with her wheelchair and runs into Sam. He spills juice all over himself, so she says he can take a shower in her bedroom and she’ll have the maid clean his clothes. Sam says okay, and heads upstairs. Ivy loves the thought of a naked, wet Sam in her bedroom and Grace there to see it! As Sam showers, Ivy imagines she can walk and in her fantasy joins Sam in the shower. The maid shows up to pick up Sam’s clothes to have them cleaned.
Meanwhile, Rebecca continues to spy on Ethan and Gwen as Ethan prepares to propose. Ethan opens some champagne, and he talks about the advice he’s been given lately, and how he’s come to a decision that he hopes will leave them very happy. Ethan begins to propose to Gwen, but they are interrupted by the maid who needs the ice using to cool the champagne for the baby. Ethan forsakes Gwen to go see what is happening with the baby. Gwen is furious, and she and Rebecca think Theresa is just using her baby to get Ethan. Gwen is ready to give up, but Rebecca refuses to allow her to do that. Upstairs, Eve is taking care of Baby Ethan. Theresa begs Eve to save her baby. Suddenly, Baby Ethan begins having seizures. Eve gives him some medicine and says all they can do is wait for it to kick in. Ethan shows up and does what he can to help Baby Ethan. Later, Antonio shows up to find out what is going on. He runs into Rebecca on the way, and tells her that she was wrong about Sheridan and Luis. He goes in to see Theresa, who tells him that her baby is sick.
Back downstairs, Sheridan talks to Gwen. She cries to her about how she found Luis making love to Beth, and how she has lost Luis forever. Gwen thinks they can still straighten things out, but Sheridan doubts that. She thinks by time she tells Antonio the truth Luis will be married to Beth!
Rebecca goes to see Ivy and begs her to talk to Ethan about proposing to Gwen, but Ivy is too busy watching Sam and plotting to get him to worry about Ethan and Gwen. She says Ethan will propose in time, and tells Rebecca to scram! Sam finishes his shower, and Ivy gives him a towel. Meanwhile, Grace and David arrive at the mansion. Grace remembers the horrible events that have happened to her here. They ask a maid where Sam is, and she says he is upstairs in Ivy’s suite in the shower. Grace heads upstairs to get an explanation. Back upstairs, Ivy sets the mood by turning down the lights and lighting candles on the table, which also has some champagne chilling and supper. Sam tells Ivy that he does appreciate her being here for him tonight. Ivy thinks Sam is tense, and gives him a back massage. Sam eventually decides he is getting too close to comfort with Ivy, and decides he should leave. Ivy says okay, and asks him to carry her to bed before he leaves. Sam agrees, and of course this is what David and Grace walk in on!
Beth and Luis are handing out treats to kids at the Book Café. Luis can’t help but think what it would be like if he was spending Halloween with Sheridan. Beth sees two kids dressed as Romeo and Juliet, and Beth remembers she and Luis went to a Halloween party in the same costumes. The kids end up mistaking Luis and Beth for an old married couple, which sends Beth dreaming. Luis asks her why she never went out with anyone else after they broke up? Beth says she just wasn’t interested in anyone else. She says she didn’t want to settle for anything but the best, and she wants no one but him!
At the mansion, Grace and David walk in on Sam and Ivy in bed! Sam was carrying Ivy to her bed, in his bathrobe, when he stumbled and the two fell into bed. They got a good laugh out of it, but Grace isn’t laughing at all. Grace runs out of the room, and Sam runs after her. Ivy tells David that she has finally won, soon Sam will be hers forever! Sam catches Grace in the hall and asks what she is doing here? Grace says she wanted to try and work things out, but obviously he has moved on with Ivy! Grace tells Sam to enjoy his new life, and she’ll move on with hers. Ivy and David watch and both think Sam and Grace are finished. Sam insists he only loves Grace, but he wonders why she is hurt by finding them together after he overheard her tell David that she loved him. Grace asks if that is why he jumped into bed with Ivy? He says he didn’t, and explained everything that happened tonight. Sam insists nothing is going on between him and Ivy, she is the one pledging her love for another man. Grace says she does love David, but she could never love anyone the ways she loves him. He says he believes her, and asks her if she believes him? Grace says she does, and the two hug and kiss. Ivy is of course unhappy that her plan has failed. Sam asks David to help Ivy while he and Grace head back home. They leave, and Ivy tells David that she has something else planned for Sam and Grace. She says that they have made Sam and Grace question their love, and the next time something happens their love might not survive the seed of doubt they have planted!
Sheridan talks to Gwen and tells her that she has lost Luis and it is all her fault. Sheridan says Antonio doesn’t understand why she is so upset, and he assumes it is because of his condition. Sheridan says it seems Luis has moved on with Beth, and she has no idea how she will get Luis back. Sheridan admits she does love Antonio, but not the way she loves Luis. She also admits she can’t kill Antonio just so she and Luis can be together, and that is what Luis is asking from her. Gwen tells Sheridan that perhaps she should talk to Eve, maybe Antonio’s condition is improving or isn’t as bad as she thinks. Sheridan thanks her for the advice, and asks if Ethan ever proposed to her? Gwen says no, and that Theresa has been butting in all night and she’s positive that this baby thing is just another stunt. Later, Sheridan continues to worry about Luis and whether she will ever be with him again. She realizes now that love is not enough, Luis has a past with Beth and possibly a future.
Upstairs, Eve, Ethan, Theresa, Whitney, and Antonio all try to help Baby Ethan. His temperature refuses to drop, and Eve confesses to Ethan that the baby’s life could be ruined forever if they don’t get his temperature down, or it could even end! Later, Eve announces that the baby’s temperature is going down, and she thinks he will be okay. Theresa holds her baby, and Ethan sees how much love Theresa has for her baby. Eve decides to take the baby to the hospital just to make sure he is okay. Suddenly, Antonio is hit with an intense headache. Eve checks him out, and he insists he is fine. Eve gets a call she must take. Suddenly, Theresa screams that something with her baby is not right! Eve checks the baby and realizes the baby isn’t breathing and has no pulse!
At the Book Café, Beth tells Luis that she never married because he was her dream man, and she never wanted anyone else but him. Luis feels bad, but Beth says it was her choice. Beth says she decided if she couldn’t have him, she wouldn’t have anyone. However, Beth says now he is available, so maybe this is what she has been waiting for. Luis tells Beth that he does care about her, but he’s not ready to get involved with anyone else just yet. Luis admits he doesn’t know if he’ll ever be ready for another relationship. Luis says he’s lost Sheridan three times, and he doesn’t know if he can recover from it. Beth says she knows, she has lost him numerous times as well. Beth insists she loves Luis, and that he has made her happier than she has ever felt. Luis doesn’t know how messing with her life and taking her for a roller coaster of a ride makes her happy. Beth tells Luis that he is it for her, there can never be anyone else. Luis says even though it is over for him and Sheridan, he can’t make her any promises. Luis says something is telling him there could be one more chance for him and Sheridan. Luis leaves to check in with the station, and Beth thinks Luis will never get Sheridan back. Beth ends up telling Luis that she thinks he is the best, and no matter what he thinks about himself, she knows they are good together and can be good together again. Luis tells Beth that it means a lot that she cares about him, and he tells her that she is special and he always wants her in his life.
