At the mansion, Theresa is crying over her bear when Gwen confronts her. Gwen asks Theresa what she is doing here? Theresa says that she has come to see Ethan. Gwen laughs and says that Ethan doesn't want to see her. They have a huge argument, and Gwen ends up telling Theresa that she means about as much to Ethan does as that stupid bear he tore apart and threw in the garbage, and she tells Theresa not to let the door hit her on the way out. Upstairs, Ethan exits the shower and heads for bed. He dreams that Sheridan appears to him and tells him to marry Gwen. Gwen returns and talks with Ethan about his dream. Ethan doesn't understand why Theresa hasn't shown up or even called? Gwen tells Ethan that it is very insensitive of Theresa, but that is the kind of woman she is. Downstairs, Theresa decides to go see Ethan, but she is caught by Julian and Rebecca. Julian threatens Theresa and tells her that Ethan is with Gwen now, and if she even thinks about disturbing them then he will not only make sure she is fired, but her mother too! Theresa ends up yelling to Ethan, so Julian threatens to call the cops on her and have them arrest her for trespassing, which will only add to Luis' troubles. Theresa realizes she is beaten for now and leaves. Back upstairs, Ethan thinks he hears Theresa call him, but Gwen tries to convince him that he didn't. Ethan refuses to let it go and runs downstairs. However, by time he gets down there, Theresa is gone. Julian and Rebecca claim that Theresa has not been by to check on him or called to see how he is doing. They do their best to convince him that Theresa is heartless and that Gwen is the woman for him. Ethan doesn't believe Theresa is like that and decides to call her to hear her side of the story. Ethan gets Theresa's machine, and Gwen convinces him not to leave a message because Luis might hear it and become angry. Back at the Lopez-Fitzgerald house, Theresa answers the phone, but she is too late, Ethan has hung up by time she says hello. She says that what Julian and Rebecca are doing to her is unfair. She boots up her computer and thinks that perhaps the truth would make Ethan stop acting like a Crane.
At the docks, Luis is thrilled that Sheridan is alive and he holds her in his arms. Sheridan tells Luis that she couldn't stay away when he was in so much pain. Meanwhile, Hank decides to talk to Luis and goes searching for him. Sheridan hears someone coming, and Luis looks and sees Hank. Luis tells Hank the good news, Sheridan is alive! Hank tells Luis that he is delusional, but Luis says she is right here. However, when Luis turns around to where Sheridan was, she is gone! Luis swears she was just here, he was just holding her in his arms. They search around for her and run into Hal Freeman, who claims he has not seen Sheridan, because she is dead. Luis goes off to be by himself and tells himself that it all seemed so real. Meanwhile, Hank feels bad for Luis. Freeman tells Hank not to worry, they will catch the guy responsible for all of this.
At the mansion, Ethan has a nightmare that Theresa fades away into a cloud of smoke. Ethan wakes up crying "Don't leave me!" Gwen hears this and thinks he's just dreaming about Sheridan. Downstairs, Rebecca shows up and she and Julian read the morning paper. Julian, who owns the paper, had a story written in which Ethan accuses Sam and Luis of being responsible of Sheridan's death and how he plans to prosecute them and get them expelled from the force. Ivy shows up and is disturbed by the article. Julian once again confronts her about her "lover," and Ivy once again tells Julian that the mirror was a hallucination. She claims she is upset about Ethan going after Sam because it will destroy his political future. Julian doesn't see why she's so worried about Ethan's future when he can just buy him the election. Ivy says she wants Ethan to win an election on his own because he is a good person and right for this town. Later, Ethan and Gwen come downstairs and Ethan is troubled by the false quotes in the paper. Julian says some lousy reporter is to blame, but that doesn't really matter, what matters is that they destroy Sam and Luis. Ivy yells "No!" Ethan tells his mother that he will destroy Sam and Luis because it is their faults that Sheridan is dead.
On the docks, Sam and Hank find Luis. Sam tells Luis that Pilar called and she is very worried about him because he never came home last night. Luis lost track of time, and decides that perhaps he should go home. After he leaves, Sam notices that something is bothering Hank. He tells Hank that he can tell him anything, but Hank insists he is fine. They head to the station where Sam discusses the case with another cop. Hank continues to grow more nervous. When Sam says it is only a matter of time before they catch Pierre, Hank blurts out "Pierre's long gone." Sam asks Hank how he would know that? Hank gives Sam an explanation about how Pierre is a professional. I didn't catch the rest because my local affiliate cut the show off and went to a commercial. Duh!
At the Lopez-Fitzgerald's, Theresa is about to email Ethan the proof that he is not a Crane when Pilar interrupts her and orders her to come down for breakfast. They talk, and Theresa becomes upset over what Ethan said in the paper. She is sure it must be a mistake and wants to go see him, but Pilar forbids her from going back to the mansion because she will only cause more trouble for her brother. Pilar leaves for work, and Luis comes home. Theresa tries to hide the paper from him, but he sees it and thinks is furious with Ethan for attacking Sam. Theresa defends Ethan, which causes Luis to wonder why she is doing so? Suddenly, the phone rings. Luis answers it and it is Ethan! He was calling to speak with Theresa. However, I did not get to see how the call was resolved due to the news. When the program returned, Luis was once again grilling Theresa about how she knows Ethan? Before she can say anything, he realizes that she must have meet him when she worked on his wedding. Luis decides to go to the funeral, which is supposed to be private, because he wants to say goodbye to Sheridan one last time. Meanwhile, Theresa decides to go talk some sense into Ethan, and realizes that he must be going to the church. She decides that she must show him the evidence that he is not a Crane because it is the only way he will marry her and forget about attacking Sam and Luis.
At the church, Luis approaches Sheridan's coffin and begins to talk to her when Theresa shows up. He wonders why she is here, and then theorizes that she is here to support him. Suddenly, Ethan and Gwen walk into the church! The credits role.
Whitney comes home and is greeted by Simone. Whitney is down because she lost a match to Abbey Jenkins. Simone tells her that she'll beet her next time. Whitney isn't sure, so Simone gives her a pep talk about how great and dedicated she is, and how she (Simone) is the slacker sister. However, Simone says at least she does have a boyfriend. Whitney asks Simone why she wants a guy like Chad? Simone says she likes Chad, and he likes her, and that is all that matters. They end up arguing about Chad, and how he knows now who his real friends are. Whitney tells Simone that if she wants to be mad at someone she should be mad at Kay. Simone says she is, and she will get to the bottom of the reason Kay spread those rumors. Simone has to head to the Book Cafe to see CHad, and as she is leaving, Whitney yells to Simone that she's only going to get herself hurt.
At the Book Cafe, Chad catches Kay reading books about evil and souls for sale. Chad wonders what she is reading this stuff for and asks how much a soul goes for these days? Kay asks Chad "Who says I was selling my soul?" Kay starts defending herself, which puzzles Chad. Chad tells her that she actually sounds like she believes this stuff. Kay quickly covers by saying she has been hanging around Charity too much. Chad talks with Kay about how he feels about his reputation like he does about his soul, you only have one. Chad tells Kay that he's done some investigating and he's learned that nobody has heard of a girl name Tiffany getting pregnant. He gets up to leave, but before going, tells Kay that if she wants to play with fire, he'll show her hell's fire, and she will get burned. After he leaves, Hecuba's voice tells Kay that Chad was kidding, but she is not, she wants her soul!
Simone shows up at the Book Cafe to see Chad and asks him if he can play that song he played last night for her. Chad says he doesn't know what she means, but Simone says she knows he plays songs to express his feelings, she got his message. As Chad is about to tell her the truth, Simone sees Kay and goes to talk to her. Kay is telling Hecuba that she cannot have her soul! Kay explains to Simone what is going on, but Simone doesn't believe her. As they argue, Kay finally tells Simone the truth. Kay tells her that she made up those lies because Chad likes Whitney and she likes him, and it was the only way to keep them apart. Simone thinks that is so lame because Chad tried to tell her last night that he loves her. Kay thinks that means her plan worked, so she owes her. Kay begs her to help her get out of this promise she made. Simone thinks Kay is full of it and telling more lies.
Kay goes on a spiritual journey into the woods and prays to God for help. As she is begging God for help, Hecuba appears in a 1920's flapper outfit. Kay tells Hecuba that she doesn't want to be involved with her, but Hecuba says it is a little late for that! Hecuba tells Kay that her soul is hers, and her life is just about over! Suddenly, a vine comes down from a tree above and begins to strangle Kay!
Back at the Russell's, Whitney listens to the song Chad asked her to, and she wonders if Chad is trying to tell her that he loves her? Whitney heads to the Book Cafe and arrives just as Whitney puts on the song Chad wanted Whitney to play. When Simone sees the looks between Chad and Whitney, she wonders if Kay could have been right?
At the station, one of the officers brings in Pierre. Sam asks Hank if he knows who this is? Hank says he has never seen him before. Sam says he thought he would have connected the name, and he introduces the guy as Pierre Carbone, the man who killed Sheridan! Sam assures Pierre that he will nail him, his boss, and anyone who had anything to do with Sheridan's murder! Pierre and Hank exchange glances. Sam shows Pierre the murder weapon and tells him to admit it because they already have partial prints. Pierre says that when they match the prints they will find out that he's innocent! Sam lets out a "yeah right," and heads to forensics. After he leaves, Hank asks Pierre how he managed to get caught? Pierre says that his face has been plastered all over the place. Hank asks Pierre what they are going to do now? Pierre says he won't be implicated, but he (Hank) will! Hank begins to attack Pierre when Sam returns and pulls him off Pierre. Pierre says they can't hold him here, but Sam says he can because he's connected to the drug cartel that ordered Sheridan's death, and he killed her. An officer gives Sam the forensics report, and Sam lets out a "damn" when he realizes the prints don't match. Sam tells him that he may not have killed Sheridan, but he knows he was part of her death. Sam brings in the fisherman who heard Hank and Pierre discussing Sheridan's death in order to identify Pierre's voice. Sam makes Pierre state his full name, Pierre Francois Carbono, and the fisherman says that is him and he'd know the other guys voice if he heard it again. Suddenly, the phone rings, and Sam asks Hank to answer it! One of the other officers answers it, and the fisherman leaves. Pierre still claims that Sam has no way to hold him because American's can't distinguish one accent from another. Sam says that is not so, between the voice ID and the report interpool gave him, he has enough to put him away for life. However, Sam offers Pierre a deal, if he tells him who pulled the trigger, he'll try and help him out. Pierre tells Sam that he has no proof that he was involved in the death of, "what's-her-name." Sam almost bashes Pierre's face in, but backs off. As he talks about poor Luis and what he would do to Pierre if he was here, Hank yells out "I can't take it anymore!" Sam thinks Hank is just emotional and gets him a drink. He tells him that he needs to stop blaming himself for Sheridan's death. A new fax comes in from interpool, and he learns that the entire case against Pierre and his boss have been dropped because the entire case rests on Sheridan's being able to ID them. Pierre is released, and Sam tells Hank that he should go home and stop worrying. Sam assures Hank that he'll catch whoever killed Sheridan. Hank leaves, and runs after Pierre. He tells Pierre to leave Harmony now, but Pierre says he can't until he has seen Sheridan buried. Hank says if Luis catches him at the church, he will kill him!
At the church, Ethan asks Theresa what she is doing here? Luis tells Ethan to leave his sister out of this, she means nothing to him or his family! Ethan says he has no intention of drawing Theresa into their problems. Luis says she is here for him, and he is here to see Sheridan. Ethan demands to talk to Luis outside, so they leave. Gwen scolds Theresa for showing up here and tells her that if she had any decency she would leave her and Ethan to grieve alone. Theresa accuses Gwen of using Sheridan's death to keep her away from Ethan, but Gwen says that Ethan doesn't want anything to do with her or her family! Theresa stands in front of Sheridan's coffin, and Gwen tells Theresa that if she listens hard enough, she can hear Sheridan telling Ethan that he should marry her (Gwen). Theresa says that Sheridan can't speak, she is dead. Gwen says that Sheridan can make her wishes known in other ways, and she tells Theresa about Ethan's dream!
Outside, Ethan demands Luis leave, but Luis refuses because he knows Sheridan would want her to be here. Ethan tells Luis that he blames him for Sheridan's death, and Luis says that he does too. Luis says he'll never forgive himself for leaving Sheridan, even if the FBI did order him to. Ethan tells Luis that he doesn't want to hear his "If only stories." Luis tells Ethan that he doesn't want to hear criticism from a guy who called off his wedding only hours before he was supposed to walk down the isle for some chick. Ethan tells Luis that if that is what he wants to talk about then fine, he deserves what he's about to get! Ethan tells Luis he'll tell him the reason he cancelled his wedding to Gwen, but Luis says he really doesn't care, so Ethan backs off. Luis then tells Ethan that he no longer wants Theresa to spend time around him. Ethan tells Luis to leave his family alone! Luis decides to leave for now, but he says that he will be back!
Luis goes down to the docks and wonders why he feels Sheridan is still so close to him. Luis doesn't give a damn what Ethan says, so he returns to the church to be with Ethan. Back at the church, Ethan returns, and Gwen tries to call problems between Ethan and Theresa by saying that Luis is the cause of this, so how dare he show up here. Ethan doesn't want to argue with Theresa about Luis because they have something more important to discuss. Ethan asks Gwen to give them a moment alone, so she leaves. Theresa tells Ethan that she knows what he is going to say, he's going to marry Gwen. Ethan says he hasn't made a choice yet, and that he still loves her. Theresa hugs him and says that she thought she had lost him. They explain all the problems they had trying to talk to one another, and Ethan is upset to learn that his family tried to keep her away from him. Ethan tells Theresa that Sheridan would have liked her. Theresa thanks him, but she is scared that Sheridan's death will pull them apart because he hates his brother even more. Ethan says that doesn't change the way he feels about her. Ethan tells her that Luis has to know the truth about them, but Theresa says he can't know about them because he will send her away, and they will never see one another again.
Back outside, Gwen is talking to her mom on the phone about Theresa and the plans they have for her to and her part in Ethan's life. Luis shows up and wants to know why she is making plans for her sister, and how it involves Ethan? Luis thinks Gwen was talking about Theresa helping with their wedding, and he assures her that Theresa won't be doing that again. Gwen tries to comfort Luis by telling him that she knows Sheridan cared for him, and he wouldn't have left her if he didn't have to. Luis thanks her and hopes Sheridan's wish comes true and she marries Ethan. Gwen thanks him and says that means a lot. Luis then asks if she knows where Theresa is? Gwen says the last time she saw her, she was inside the church.
As the show ends, Sheridan's finger moves, and we hear her saying "Where am I?"
