                             FloatNotes v1.0

Another great (stickynotes) utility for Windows 3.x/95 written by yours
truly, the best self-appointed, self-proclaimed member of ALIEN PRODUCTIONS,
David Piepgrass.

It's not the best word processor around... it just uses the regular edit
control and can't handle multiple styles, sizes or fonts on the same note,
and it just uses the regular window style rather than having a miniature
title bar like in some other sticky notes programs... and it's appropriately
slow for a Visual Basic program...

But it's got one thing going for it that all other sticky notes don't...
THERE'S NO STUPID ANNOYING REGISTRATION MESSAGE POPPING UP AT EVERY CORNER!!
Actually that's precicely why I wrote this program... So that I wouldn't
to watch some full screen 10-second guilt trip for not registering...
Actually I wanted to make it shareware but I don't have a permanent place
for people to send money (or anything else, for that matter)... so here you
go, a FREEWARE sticky notes program. Enjoy!

Now, for those fellas that have never had a sticky notes program, I shall
explain what they are for: Mainly, it's for those people who:
	1. Get a lot of phone messages for other people,
	2. Have a Windows PC that is usually on, and
	3. Can't not never find a PAPER pad to write on!!

Here's how you use it:

1. Unzip FLOATNOT.ZIP into its own directory (for example, C:\FLOATNOT) using
pkunzip or winzip or whatever your unzip program is.
2. Try to run it ("IT" being FLOATNOT.EXE). If it doesn't work, you
probably don't have VBRUN300.DLL, a large library required by all Visual
Basic programs. You can find it many places on the Internet... just
do a search for VBRUN300.DLL. When you get it, move it into your
   \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
3. Put it in your StartUp group. Here's how:
-In Windows 3.x: open your startup group window, choose File | New...,
then click Program Item, then click OK, then enter "FloatNotes" in the
blank labeled "Description", then enter the path (e.g.
"C:\FLOATNOT\FLOATNOT.EXE") of FloatNotes in the blank labelled
"Command Line", then enter the directory (e.g. "C:\FLOATNOT") in the
blank labelled "Working Directory", then click OK. Whew!
-In Windows 95: Right-click the Start Button and choose Open, double-click
Programs, then StartUp. Then open the directory window that you unzipped
FloatNotes into, and drag Floatnot.exe to the StartUp folder (A
shortcut should be created automatically.) Done Installation!
4. When running FloatNotes, you can right-click the note area and a bunch
of menu commands should appear (In my Windows 95 I have to double-right
click because the first click brings up the simple edit menu) You can
also find similar menu items by clicking the control box (The minus sign
in Win 3.1 and the note icon in Win95). These are the important menu
   commands:
	- Note color and font: brings up a dialog box so you can change how
	  the note looks.
	- New note: creates another note, of course.
	- Exit FloatNotes: removes all the notes from your screen. They are
saved automatically, so next time you start the program they will
"come back". They are also saved when you exit Windows.

Well, that's about it... so again I bid you "ENJOY!"
