THE STORY OF IDRIS (pbub)

Idris is Idris Ibn (son of) Yaret Ibn Mihlaeel Ibn keenan Ibn Anoush Ibn Sheeth Ibn Adam.

Idris was born in the life of Adam and he lived 120 years in Adams time. Adam saw his sixth grandson in his long life. When Adam died and after him Sheeth, Allah chose Idris.

In the Hadeeth, he was the first prophet after Adam and Sheeth (peace be upon them) and he was the first one to use the pencil and writing and spread it among people. He had complete posture, thick beard, tall with huge bones but not fat, he was rather thin. His eyes were shiny and they were as if he wore mascara.

He was patient and kept silent and tranquil for long times. When he walked he used to look down to the ground and used to meditate and think a lot in the creation of Allah almighty. And he looked rather sad. If he got angry his voice would become loud and he would move his fore finger when he spoke.

Idris remained on the religion of Sheeth and he started to add to it some of legislation revealed to him by Allah and when he saw how corruption spead among people he legislated Jihad (fighting for the sake of Allah) and so he was the first one to set out Jihad. And he was the first to take slaves from those who were defeated.

He organized an army from horse riders and infantry and waged war against the people of Kabeel and was able to defeat and enslave from them. From that time started the fight between right and good and evil and kind.

We do not have a lot of information about him but he was mentioned in the Quran: Also mentioned in the Book the case of Idris: he was a man of truth (and sincerity), (and) a prophet: and we raised him to a lofty status

And about this high and elevated status, it was mentioned in the Sahih (correct) Hadeeth narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim that our Prophet pbuh met Idris in the fourth sky in the night of Israa (ascending to heavens).

Ibn Jarir (an interpretor of the Quran) narrated a story that was narrated by most interpretors about this elevated position Allah gave to Idris mentioned in the Quran:
He said that Ibn Abbass asked Kaab (who was a jew then converted to Islam) about the meaning of this verse in the Quran they used to ask Kaab about matters which there is no information about mentioned in the Quran or Hadeeth - so Kaab told him of the Israeli version of the story ( we were told not to believe or disbelieve them in stories we have no information about).

He said that Allah revelated to Idris that each day he is given as much reward as the good deeds of all the sons of Adam as an honor to him from Allah. Idris liked to live longer to get more of good deeds so Idris told one of his companions from the angels about what Allah has given him and asked him to talk to the Angel of death to delay his time of dying.

The Angel replied that the Angel of death cannot do that but why not give it a try?

The Angel carried Idris between his wings and went up into the sky. When they reached the fourth sky the angel of death met the angel carrying Idris. This angel asked him to delay the time of Idris. The angel of death asked, and where is Idris?

The angel said hes here on my back. The angel of death said oh how strange? I was ordered by Allah to take the soul of Idris in the fourth sky and I kept wondering how to take Idris soul in the fourth sky, how will he come there?

So Idris died in the fourth sky and this is the meaning meant by the verse in the Quran.

To be continued by the story on Nooh (Noah)...
