Sincerity of Prayer

Allah said: Recite what is sent of the Book by inspiration to thee, and establish regular Prayer: for Prayer restrains from shameful and unjust deeds; and remembrance of Allah is the greatest (thing in life) without doubt. And Allah knows the (deeds) that ye do. [29:45]

Salat (Prayer) is the greatest means to elevate the soul. It removes hypocrisy and arrogance from us.

There are two conditions if we apply them we would get sincerity in prayer:
* The manners from the outside.
* The manners from within.

The manners from the outside (appearance) like ablution, clean clothes, and facing the Qiblah (Mecca).
The manner from within is sincerity.

Sincerity is for the heart, and the senses to be tranquil and truthful for Allah.

The Prophet pbuh said, the first knowledge that would be left out from earth is Sincerity.
And he said, one might make a Salat and he wont get except sixth or tenth of its reward.

One of the scholars said:
A person doesnt get from his Salat except what was aware from it.

Allah said: but your God is One God: submit then your wills to Him (in Islam): and give thou the good news to those who humble themselves. [22:34]

If Sincerity gets out from the heart it would be corrupted and advice wouldnt affect it, then love of desires would overcome it.

The basis for Sincerity is for us to stop making sins and disobedience.

Things that helps you become Sincere in Salat:
1. When hearing the call to Prayer:
* To feel within your heart the fear one would get on the day of Judgement.
* To repeat with the Azan.
* To become happy for meeting Allah in the Salat.

The Prophet used to say to Billal (a companion who used to make Azan) comfort us with Salat oh Billal

The Prophet pbuh said, three things are beloved to me in this life, Perfume, women, and the joy of my heart is in Salat.
Love for women is care and kindness in his heart for them.

2. When making ablution:
* In the same way you are cleaning your limbs with water you clean your heart from sins by repenting, regretting what you have done and having the intention of stopping doing these sins.

3. When wearing your clothes for Salat:
* For the servant to know the weakness of his soul and to ask Allah to cover and change these weaknesses.

4. When facing Mecca (Qiblah):
* From the appearance we are facing Mecca but from within we should direct ourselves to Allah and forget about worries of life.

5. When standing for prayer:
* To feel humbleness before Allah.
* To remember standing before Allah in the hereafter for reward or punishment, and to be certain that Allah is watching him.

6. When making intention:
* To remember Allahs generosity for allowing him to stand within His hands in Salat.
* To make your intention Sincere for Allah alone.

7. When saying AllauAkbar:
* For the Heart to believe with what the tongue is saying that Allah is Greater than anything else.
The Prophet pbuh said, If your desires are more obeyed by you than Allahs orders, then you obey your desire more than Allah and its like making your desires your God.

8. When saying the (Isteftah Duaa) at the beginning of the prayer:
* This Duaa helps cast away the strength of Shytan.

9. when reading the Quran in Prayer:
* For you to comprehend and understand the meaning of what you read.

10. When making Prostration (Sujood) and Kneeling (Rukuu):
* To remember Allahs greatness and your own humbleness in these positions.
* When saying glorified Allah the greatest to remember that Allah is the greatest of all, and when saying glorified Allah the highest that Allah is the highest of all.

11. When making Tashahud:
* To imagine that you are greeting Allah.
* To imagine that you are greeting the Prophet pbuh.

12. When making Tasleem (Assalamualikom):
* To sense the existence of angels from around you.
* To remember that you might die before attending the next Salat.

We should pay attention to Sincerity in Salat because it functions the same way as a spirit in the human body.
