The Prophet's Miracles

Definition of a miracle:
A miracle is something human beings cannot come up with something like it and the miracle is often accompanied with a challenge to others.

For the Prophet pbuh a lot of miracles that Allah has honored him with them as a confirmation to the truth of his message. They reached about more one thousand miracles as scholars say and here are some of them:

The Holy Quran:
Because it is Allahs speech revealed to him and the Quran is miraculous with its letters, words, constructions, meanings and the telling of things unknown to people. It is also miraculous with its legal, and mental issues legislation that people cant come with the like of them. In addition to the challenge that still stands until today for people and jinn to try to come with something the like of it:
Say: "If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Quran they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support. [2:23]

The split of the moon:
Ahamd, Bukhari and Muslim narrated in their Sahihs (correct books) that:
the people of Mecca asked the Prophet for a proof so he asked Allah to split the moon before their eyes and so it split into two halves but they didnt believe their own eyes and said we were witched by Muhammad.
Allah verified that in the Quran:
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. [54:1-3]

The rain fall down with his Duaa (asking from Allah):
At a time drought hit people and a man came to the prophet while he was preaching ion the Masjid saying: Oh messenger of Allah our money has finished, and we cant do anything so ask Allah to save us. The Prophet raised his hands and said, O Allah quench our thirst Oh Allah quench our thirst. Anas said, I swear that there wasnt any single cloud in the sky and there was a mountain which there is nothing between us and it. Suddenly a cloud like a shield came from behind the mountain and when it reached the middle of the sky it expanded then rained and it kept on raining for 6 days until the next Friday. The same man who came a week ago came and said: Oh messenger of Allah our money is gone and we have nothing to do, Oh ask Allah to stop the rain. The Prophet raised his hands and said, Oh Allah make it around us not upon us, Oh Allah on the hills, and the valleys and on the roots of the trees. Anas said, the rain stopped and we came out walking in the sun.

Water springing from between his fingers:
Anas bin Malik (the servant of the prophet) said:
I saw the Prophet one day about the time of Aser prayer and people looking for water to make ablution but didnt have any. The Prophet was brought a bowel of water for his ablution. He put his hand inside the bowel and ordered people to wash from it. I saw water coming out from between his fingers until all the people made their ablution and they were around 300 men.

The flooding of a well:
While in the Hudaibiah (a place 20 miles from Mecca) at the year 6 of Hijrah (migration from Mecca to Madinah) and the Hudaibiah was a well that was dry from use until nothing was left in it. The Prophet and his companions (and they were around 1400 men) and they were afraid from thirst. They complained to the Prophet so he asked for some water and sat at the edge of the well. He drank from the water and rinsed the water inside his mouth then spit it in the wella few second later the well was full of water and they all drank from it and even filled their bowels and jars.

Increasing the food:
In a lot of occasions the Prophet increased the food and drink and from these occasions is this one:
Abu Hurairah narrated, once we were with the Prophet in Tabouk Quest and the people ran out of food so they sent to the Prophet asking his permission to slaughter their camels to eat from them. He gave them permission to do so but Omar came to the Prophet and told the prophet that they need their camels to carry them to their enemies and shouldnt be slaughtered. Oh messenger of Allah, ask people to bring what is left from their food and ask Allah to bless it for us. The Prophet did and the people came and ate and filled their bowels from the food and a large quantity remained. At that time the Prophet (pbuh) said, I testify that there is no God but Allah and I am His servant and messenger and who ever meets Allah with this testimony certain of it will enter Jennah.

Trees respond to him:
Muslim narrated from Jaber (a companion) that once they were with the Prophet in a wide valley and the prophet wanted to respond to the call of nature and I followed him with a jar with some water. He didnt see anything to screen him from others except two trees far apart. He came to one of them and said to it, come with me by the permission of Allah and it did until he went to the other tree and said the same. The trees came with him (in the same way you lead the sheep) to the middle of way and then he bent them over him and said bend over me with the permission of Allah and they did.

A stone greeting him:
The Prophet pbuh said, I know a stone in Mecca that used to greet me before I received the revelation.

A camel prostrating to him and complains of its owner:
Once a camel became wild and refused to lead with its owners. They came to the prophet telling him of what become of the camel. The Prophet went towards the camel but people said that they are afraid on the Prophet from it. The Prophet told them that no harm would happen to him. When the camel saw the Prophet it prostrated to him. Then the prophet led the camel to the place of work. His companions said:
Oh messenger of Allah if the camel prostrated to you then we should do soHe replied, No human being should prostrate for another and if I was to order someone to prostrate to another I would have ordered the wife to prostrate to her husband.

Another story:
Once the Prophet and his companions came to garden that belongs to one of the people of Madinah when a camel came to him gargling and tears coming from its eyes. The prophet bated on it until it calmed down then he asked about the owner of the camel. A young man came and said that it belongs to him. The Prophet told him, dont you fear Allah in this animal that He has give you. It complained to me that you put too much work on it and you dont feed it.

The blind recovers his eyesight by his Duaa:
Ahmad narrated:
Once a blind man came to the Prophet and asked him to make Duaa to Allah to heal him. The Prophet said, If you like you can postpone this for it would be better for you in the hereafter or I would make Duaa for you." The man said "No make Duaa for me." The Prophet asked him to make ablution and to pray two Rakaas and then to ask Allah with this Duaa, Oh Allah I ask you and I turn to you by your Prophet Muhammad the Prophet of mercy. Oh Muhammad by you I ask Allah to answer my request, Oh Allah accept his intercession to me. The man did and was healed.

A piece of wood turns into a sword:
Once in one of the battles (Bader battle) a sword of one of the companions broke and the Prophet gave him a piece of wood and told him to hit with it. The wood turned into a strong long white sword and he fought with it years after the Prophets death.

His telling of the hidden and the unseen:
1. His telling about his grand son Al-Hasan that he is a Lord and that Allah will bring peace between two groups of Muslims on his hands. And this thing was done when Al Hasan and those with him reconciled with Muawiah and those with him.

2. When the Prophet ordered the Mountain of Ohud, Stand still Ohud (the mountain began to shake when the Prophet and Abu Baker, Omar, and Othman went on it) a Prophet, the most Honest man, and two martyrs are standing on you.And what the Prophet told happened years later Abu Baker died of a disease, Omar and Othman were killed.

3. When the Prophet migrated in secret from Mecca to Madinah a man named Suraqa followed him because of the reward Quraish set for who kills the Prophet. Suraqas horse legs sank in the sand and he couldnt harm the Prophet twice. The Prophet told him, what will become of you when you wear Kesras bracelets (the king of Persia)? Years later at the time of Omar Ibn Al-Khatab when the Muslims conquered Persia the bracelets of Kesra were brought to Omar and he gave them to Suraqah (he became a Muslim) who wore them in front of all the Muslims.

4. Once he stood over a grave and he said that this is the grave of Abu Rugal and with him is a branch of Gold. They dug the grave and found exactly what he said.

5. He said that the Judgement day wouldnt come before two groups of Muslims fight though they have one claim. This happened when Mouawiah and Ali fought in the battle of Sufeen despite having the same cause.

6. His telling to Khabab bin Al-Art when he came complaining the hardships Muslims are suffering from the atheists of Quraish and asking him to ask Allah to give them victory over them. The Prophet told him - his face has turned red, People before you were buried in the ground to their heads and then their heads were sawed by saws into halves and that didnt turn them away from their religion. I swear Allah will complete this matter (Islam) until one rides from Sinaa (a city in Yemen) to Hadramout (another city) fearing nothing but Allah and the wolf on his sheep. And it was done as the Prophet said.

7. His telling that Khilafa ( the ruling of the Caliphs) after me is thirty years then Allah would give its belongings to whomever He chooses. And this happened as the Prophet told: Abu Baker ruled 2 years and 4 months less 10 days. Omar ruled for 19 years, 6 months and 4 days. Othman ruled for 12 years less 22 days and Ali ruled 4 years and 10 months, and Al-Hasan bin Ali ruled for about 6 months then he turn it down to Mouawaih on the year 40 of Hijrah.

8. His telling to Fatima (his daughter) that Gabriel used to review the Quran once a year with the Prophet except this year Gabriel reviewed the Quran with the Prophet twice and this is a sign of the near of my death. Fatima cried but he told her that she is the first of his family to catch up with him and that she is the Lady of the women of Jennah. The Prophet (pbuh) died in the same year and Fatima was the first to follow him of his family six months later as he told.

9. His telling to his wives that the dogs of Al-Houwab (a well) will bark on one of them. It happened as the Prophet told when Aich went to make ammense with Mouawia in the battle of the Camel. When she reached the water of Bani Amer at night dogs barked at her at night. She asked what is the name of this place and they told her its the water of Al-Houwab. This incident occurred after the Prophets death.

10. The Prophet telling to Ali when he put him as a leader in Al-Ashirah conquest: Oh Aba Turab (the kin of Ali) I will tell you of the most miserable of people. He said, The red man of the tribe of Thamoud when he killed the she-camel of Saleh (their prophets miracle) and the man who will hit you on your head until your blood covers your beard. And it happened as the Prophet told when years later Abdul-Rahman bi Muljim killed Ali in the city of Kufa.

11. His telling that, from this nation there will be a an army sent to india and the land of Sind (far east)." And it happened in the year 44 of Hijra Muslim conquered India.

12. His telling that this nation will separate into 73 groups all is in hell fire except one. When he was asked about this one he said, Those who will be on the same thing as I and my companions are today. And he said, They will have a lot of expensive carpets, and they will wear clothes for every occasion, and they will eat in plates put in front after plates, and they will cover their houses like the covers of Al-Kaaba (curtains). And he said, You today are better than you are at that time, and they walk swaggering, and they will be served by the girls of Rome and Persia. Allah will turn them against each other, and will empower the worst among them over the best.

Those were some of the many miracles of the Prophet (pbuh) which reached more than a thousand miracles and the point behind talking about them is to increase the Eeman (Faith) of the believers and for asking others to believe in him as a Prophet and messenger.

The love of the Prophet and obedience to him is a must in order for us to be saved from loss and to win Allah forgiveness and mercy.
