Birth of the Prophet

By the name of Allah

Asalamualikom

This lesson is about our Prophet pbuh. All the information included here are from Sahih (correct) Ahadeeth (Hadeeths) only.

The Prophet - Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him
His family and kinship:

His name is Mohammad bin (son of) Abdullah bin Abdulmottalib bin Hashem bin abdumanaf bin Qusai bin Kelab bin Murrah bin Kab bin loai bin Ghalib bin Fahr bin Malik bin Annader bin Kinanah bin khazimah bin Madrakah bin Ilias bin Modar bin Nozar bin Maed bin Adnan.(Ismael son of Ibraham).

Signs of the nearing of his birth:
In the Tourat (Old Testament): In the Hadeeth of Kaeb Al Ahbar (a Jewish Monk) he said: I find in the Tourat written: Mohammad the Messenger of Allah. He is neither harsh nor rude, and he doesnt yell in the markets. He doesnt punish bad deeds with another bad deed, but he forgives and excuses. His nations are those who praise Allah and who thank Him in all places. And they say Allahuakbar (Allah the Greatest) on every valley. They wear Izars (special clothing in Pilgrimage). They wash their limbs. They stand for prayer as they stand for war. They have a caller who calls in the sky (Azan-call to prayer). At night you hear their sounds like buzzing of bees. His birth is in Mecca, his migration is to Taibah (Madina) and his sovereignty is in Sham (natural Syria- Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine).

Other Prophets prophesizing Him:
One of the companions asked the Prophet pbuh: Oh Prophet of Allah what was the first signs of your coming? He said: the Duaa (supplication) of my Father Ibraheem, the Prophesy of Jesus, and my mother saw a light coming out of her that lights the Palaces of Sham.

The conditions of the society before his birth:
In the story of the Muslims first migration to Abysinia (a country in Africa) and the discussion between Jafer (a companion) and the King of that country Alnajashi and Jafers telling him: We were people of ignorance, worshipping idols, eating flesh of dead animals, we didnt honor our relatives and kin, we used to harm our neighbors. The strong among us are cruel to the weak. We remained in this state until Allah sent us a Prophet from among us of whom we knew his family and relatives, and knew of his honesty, honor and truthfulness. He asked us to worship Allah alone without partners or association. He asked us to throw away what we worshipped from stones and idols. He asked us to always tell the truth, and to be trustworthy, and to be kind to our relatives, to stop shedding each others blood and honor, to stop making sins and false speech, to stop stealing the orphans money and not to talk bad about virtuous women.

His Birth pbuh: from the Hadeeth of ibn Abbass and Jaber they said: The prophet of Allah was born in the Elephant year (the year someone called Abraha came with a huge army from abysina to try to tear down the Kaba (house of Allah in Mecca) his army contained elephants that he brought with him). Monday 12, of Rabee Alawal (Arabic month-Lunar), on this day he ascended to heavens, migrated to Madinah, and died.

His breast feeding:
The Arabs used to send their children with the nomads to the desert and would assign one of their women to breast feed them so that they grow strong and gain the qualities of men.

Our Prophet was given to a woman named Halimah Assadiah after he was rejected by other women because he was an orphan. Halimah took the Prophet in a year that there was no rain and only a little graze was left for the animals to feed. The she-camels didnt produce any milk because of thirst and hunger. The moment Halimah took the prophet the breast of the she-camel got filled with milk.

She said the Prophet grew up faster than those who are at his age.

In a Hadeeth narrated by Anas that when the Prophet was playing with kids from his age, Gabriel came and took him to a place and then cut open his chest and took out his heart and removed a leech out of it. He then said: this is what Satan has from you. After that Gabriel washed the heart in a bowl of gold with water, then he stitched him back as he was. The kids came back to Halimah and told her that Mohammad was killed. She came to him and found him pale. Anas said I used to see the scar of the cut in the Prophets chest.

The Prophet was cut later before his journey to Heaven.

His mothers death:
She died when he was 6 years old in a place between Mecca and Madina after she took him to visit her brothers. She died on the way back.

His grandfather taking care of him:
After his mothers death, his grandfather (AbdulMuttalib) took care of him and loved him a lot. He was the leader of Mecca.

His taking care of sheep:
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet pbuh told his companions that all the prophets took care of sheep. They asked him: and you? He said yes I used to do so for some money from the people of Mecca.

The story of the priest:
After the Prophets grandfather died his uncle Abu Talib took care of him. Abu talib was a merchant and once he took the prophet with him to Sham. A priest was living on the way but he never went out to see them before but this time he did. When he saw the Prophet he took his hand and said this is the master of the world. This is the messenger of the Lord of the world. Allah will sent him as a mercy for people. The men asked him how could you tell? He said while you were coming every stone, and tree prostrated to the ground. And trees and stones only prostrate to a prophet. I could also tell from this mole on his shoulder. It is called the mole of Prophets. Then the priest went back and made some food for them and brought it back to them while the prophet was with the cattle. The priest asked them to call for the Prophet and when he came there was a cloud that shaded him from the sun. when the Prophet came and sat with them under a tree the tree leaned to shade the Prophet from the sun.
The priest then asked Abutalib not to take him to Sham because the Romans would kill him if they found out about him. The priest kept on asking until Abutalib sent the Prophet back to Mecca.

His marriage to Khadijah:
She was his first wife and he didnt marry any one beside he until she died. The Prophet said: the best women of paradise are Mariam (Mary) and khadijah.

The people of Mecca accept his rule in the matter of the black stone:
The people of Mecca tore down the Kaba and rebuilt it again. At the end they differed on who among them would put the Black stone in its place and they almost fight for that because placing the stone would be an honor for the tribe who put it. They agreed to accept the Prophets rule on this issue:
He pbuh brought a piece of cloth and placed the stone in it and asked all the heads of the tribes to come and share lifting the stone then the prophet came and put it in its place.

The Prophet said that he used to know a stone in Mecca that would say Salaamalaikom to him before he received revelation.

At the age of forty the Prophet received his first revelation while he was meditating in a cave called Hiraa.
