Advice From the Prophet
Part 2
Moaz ibn Jabal one of the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) said, Oh messenger of Allah Advise me. He said (pbuh): Worship Allah as if you are looking at him, and consider yourself to be among the dead, and if you want I will tell you about what is better for you to know than that, and he said this(and the Prophet made a sign to his tongue).
An explanation of this Hadeeth:
To worship Allah as if you're looking at him:
There are three degrees of worship:
1. To worship Allah in a way just to make the required (Fard) without paying attention to the conditions and pillars of this worship and sincerity.
2. To worship Allah with the knowledge that Allah is watching him but sometimes he forgets about that and he feels that Allah is away from him a little bit.
3. To worship Allah with the knowledge that Allah is looking at him and he knows that Allah is aware of all his doings all over his life and he feels that Allah is so near to him.
And the greatest of worship which you should be sincere in is Prayers because in Salat you are making the five Pillars of Islam and that is the Testimony " Shahada " which we say in our Salat. Prayers is the second pillar and we do it in Salat, Fasting is the third pillar and in Salat we abstain from drinking and eating. Charity "Zakat" is the fourth pillar and the meaning of Zakat in Arabic is Purity and in Salat we make charity on behalf of all our organs and that is purification. The Fifth pillar is Pilgrimage " Hajj" and in Salat we direct our selves to Mecca, the place where people go to make Hajj.
Ali ib abi Taleb, the cousin of the Prophet, everytime he made his Abloution" wudu" his face would turn pale and he would be shaking. So they asked him why and he said: Each time I remember that I'm going to meet Allah this happens to me.
One day the Prophet (pbuh) saw a man playing with his beard during salat so he said: if this man had sincerity (and he pointed to his heart) all his senses will be sincere too.
To consider yourself among the dead this means not to make your heart too attached to this life "dunia".
The Prophet (pbuh) said that Allah would deprive his servants from the pleasures of this life in the same way you force an ill man to diet from some foods and drink to protect him from harm and attachment to this life.
In another hadeeth he said (pbuh): Allah offered to turn the desert of Mecca into gold for me, I answered oh no my Lord , I will live some of the days hungry so I will ask you and make duaa for you and in the days that I'm full I would be thankful to you.
In a Qudsi Hadeeth: Allah says Don't curse the Time because I'm the Time: this means don't curse the fate and your destiny because Allah created all of this.
One day the prophet and his companions passed by a dead donkey and it's smell was awful and he said:
Do you see this donkey now that it's worth nothing in it's owners eyes? They said yes. He said so is this life is worth nothing in the eyes of Allah.
In another hadeeth the Prophet (pbuh) said : If Allah wants good for one of his servants he would use him. They asked him how does he use him. He said: he would direct him towards doing good deeds and he let him die doing that deed.
In another hadeeth: the Prophet (pbuh) said: whoever of you gurantees for me the good usage of his tonge and his the good usage of his Private place( the sex organs), I would gurantee Jennah for him.
In another Hadeeth: Silence is a treasure and few of people take it.
May Allah direct us all to worship him in away that will make him pleased from us and not to do anything that will make him away from us.
