A Hadeeth
The Prophet pbuh said, No servant will be moved to Jennah (Paradise) or to Nar (Hell fire) until he will be asked about 5 matters.
1. About his age and how he spent it.
2. About his knowledge and what he did with it.
3. About his money, where he got it from.
4. And how he spent it.
5. About his body and how he used it.
Explanation of 1:
Allah says in the Holy Quran:
Be ye foremost (in seeking) Forgiveness from your Lord, and a Garden (of Bliss), the width whereof is as the width of heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers. That is the Grace of Allah, which He bestows on whom He pleases: and Allah is the Lord of Grace abounding. [21:57]
And said:
Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous. [3:133]
And said:
These were ever quick in emulation in good works; they used to call on us with love and reverence, and humble themselves before us. [90:21]
As we notice in these verses Allah teaches us that life as well as time passes quickly so we should spend it in what pleases Allah.
The Prophet pbuh said, Two blessings are envied by a lot of people good health and spare time.
One of the scholars said that no one day passes until there is a caller who says Oh Son of Adam I am a new day, a witness on your deeds. So do as much good as you can because when my sun sets you wont find me except on the Day of Judgement.
Explanation of 2:
The Prophet pbuh said in his Duaa (prayer), Oh Allah I seek refuge with you from a knowledge that is useless
And said, Knowledge is the life of Islam and the pillar of religion and whoever knew part of knowledge Allah will reward him for that and whoever learned something then worked with what he learned Allah will teach him what he doesnt know.
Kinds of knowledge:
1. Sciences of life which might benefit in this life and learning these sciences is a must on Muslim so as not to be said that Muslims are ignorant, like sciences of Medicine, Math, etc.
2. Sciences of religion which are the most important to Muslims like science of the Quran, Hadeeth, Fiqeh (Islamic laws)etc. These sciences benefit in this life and in the hereafter.
3. Sciences that harm like Sorcery and witchcraft.
4. Sciences that are incomplete like those who study things superficially without seeking deep knowledge. This kind of knowledge is worse than ignorance because one having it would think that he has knowledge about something but in fact he has none.
Explanation of 3 and 4:
The Prophet pbuh said, Seeking Halal (lawful) money is an obligation after the obligations of religion.
In another Hadeeth, Son of Adam says my money, my money. What do you really get from your money except what you ate from and wasted away, wear clothes from and then they were torn out, and what you paid for charity and thats what is kept for you.
In another Hadeeth, Beware of setting with the dead. They asked him and who are the dead? He replied the wealthy people. (The rich people who forget about Allah and dont pay charity).
One of the scholars said:
Money is a good Servant but a bad Master.
The Prophet pbuh said, Satan said after Islam came Ill try to divert Muslims from the true path by three things; to seduce them take money without right, to spend it in things that are not right, and to deprive those who deserve it from it.
Allah described people who spend their money in the right way by:
Such will be the honored ones in the Gardens (of Bliss). [70:35]
As for those who are stingy and dont pay Allahs right in money:
On the Day when heat will be produced out of that (wealth) in the fire of Hell, and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, "This is the (treasure) which ye buried for yourselves: taste ye, then, the (treasures) ye buried!" [9:35]
Explanation of 5:
Allah said:
We have indeed created man in the best of moulds, [95:4].
And said:
O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent? Him Who created thee, fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias. [82:6]
Allah has distinguished us from animals by our minds so we should preserve our sense by obeying Allah. We should maintain this body too and give it its rights from sleeping, food and drink because Allah will ask us about all our sense since they are going to be witness on us on the day of judgement.
May Allah make our questioning on the day of Judgment light, quick and easy.
Take care and may Allah bless you all.
