Fatimah Al-Zaharaa
Daughter of the Prophet (pbuh)
She is the fourth daughter of the Prophet pbuh. She had a lot of nicknames:
1. Al - zahraa which means the flower and the Prophet named her this because she had some freckles on her cheek .
2. She was named al-batool which means the virgin because she used to have her period only for few hours and her puerpiruim would only last for a day or two.
3. The lady of the all the women in this world, and the lady of the women of the paradise ( Jennah ).
4. The mother of her father because she loved him very much.
5. The Part of the Prophet because he used to say pbuh that : Fatimah is part of me, He who likes her he likes me and he who hates her he hates me.
6. The mother of the two Hassans ( her sons)
She had 3 sons Al hassan, Al hussein and Mohsein. Mohsein died when he was a child.
She had 2 daughters Um kolthoum and Zainab.
The prophet's dynasty continued through her. She was born when the Prophet was 35 years old. the date of Her birth is the day when the Prophet placed the Black stone in its place in the Kabaa after he was elected to do so by Quraish who were about to fight on who will have the honor of putting it in its place after they had renewed building the kabaa.
She was the most dear person to the Prophet pbuh. Her mother is Khadeejah who died when Fatimah was still young and she took the responsibility of the house of the Prophet then.
Abu baker proposed to her and then Omar ibn Al khatab but the Prophet refused to marry her because she was still young.
When her last sister got married she cried a lot and when she was asked about the reason of her crying she said : Oh Mom don't let anybody take me from you and dad because I can't take it without you and this is an evidence of her love to her parents.
Her marriage to the Prophet's cousin Ali bin abi talib:
When Ali went to propose to her he was very shy so the Prophet pbuh said to him : did you come to ask the hand of Fatimah? Ali replied yes. So the Prophet said You welcome. Then the Prophet asked him about the dowery so Ali went and brought an Armour he used to wear in battle and gave it to the Prophet who in his turn offered it to his companions to buy and Othman ibn Affan did with 460 Dirhams though it wasn't worth that amount of money and then the Prophet gave half the money to Bilal and asked him to go and buy some sweets and the other half of the money he gave to his wife Om Salamh and told her to buy things for Fatimah's wedding. She bought a piece of velvet and a canteen made of leather for water and a leather pillow. And this is a proof that each Bride should get a dowery but it shouldn't be a very expensive one and also a proof that the people should be invited to share some food as a declaration of the wedding amongst them.
Then the Prophet gathered his companions and gave them a speech saying that Allah had ordered him to marry Fatimah to Ali. He made the people witness this, praying that Allah would bless them and their offspring. And then the Prophet asked for Allah's forgiveness and then Ali prostrated as a sign of thankfulness to Allah.
Then the Prophet adviced both Ali and Fatimah not to become angry and if they did become angry to mention Allah and his power over them. He advised them to go and make ablution and to Pray Al ishaa prayer together and then to pray two Rakaa's which are the Sunnah of getting married.
Then Fatimah began to cry. So the Prophet asked her why she was crying and she replied that she felt lonely now that she was moving from out of her father's house to that of her husband's. And she told him how she will feel when she moves to her grave where no one will be with her. So the Prophet knew that she was afraid. So he told her that he felt a little cold and he went and slept in their bed ( hers and Ali ). Then he called upon them and put them to bed and asked Allah for them. Then he went out and left them by themselves. This is a sign of his mercy and compassion pbuh.
The Prophet described her as being patient, religious, full of kindness and thankful.
The signs of the Prophet's love to her:
1. When she came to see him he would stand up to greet her and would kiss her on her forehead.
2. He would seat her in his place and he would set down facing her so that he can look at her.
3. He used to care so much for her that one day he came to her while she was wearing a golden necklace and he told her do you like people to say that Fatimah the daughter of Mohammad is wearing a chain of fire ( because she will be asked on the day of judgement about her money and what she has done with it - not because gold is forbidden for her). So she went out and sold it and bought with the money a slave and then she set him free for the sake of Allah. When the prophet learned about that he thanked Allah for saving her from the fire.
4. He told her that Allah is angry for what you are angry for and is displeased for what you are displeased for because she was always keen to do what pleases Allah and stay away from what displeases Him.
5. The Prophet used to tell her Ask whatever you want from my money. But if she had done bad deeds and Allah wanted to punish her then her relation to the Prophet will do her no good. And he said that even if Fatimah his daughter stole anything he would cut her hand as a punishment which Islam puts on thieves.
6. She was very much similar to her father in the way she walks and talks and amongest women she was the most beloved to the Prophet and her husband was the most beloved among men.
Fatimah died when she was 25 or 29. On the third of Ramadan the 11 year of the Hijrah.
