The Ten Days of " Du Al hejja "
This lesson is about the virtues of the blessed month "Du Al hejjah." It was given it's name from the word "Haj" which means Pilgrimage to Mecca. Allah Says in the Quran: By the break of day. By the nights twice five. this refers to the first ten nights of Du Alhejjah and if Allah himself has sworn by these days this means that these days have a great importance and are worth while in the eyes of Allah.
Our Prohet (pbuh) said: There are no days in which Allah likes good deeds done in them more than these ten days. The companions asked : even more than Jihad for the sake of Allah. He replied: not even Jihad except for a man who goes to Jihad with his money and his life and never returns back. This means that this man got killed for the sake of Allah and spent all his money for that cause too.
In another Hadeeth our Prophet said: The people who go to pilgrimmage or to visit Mecca are guests of Allah if they asked Him anything he would give them, and if they made repentance He would forgive them and if they asked him he would accept their Duaa and if they interceded for someone He would accept their intercession.
A story: A pious man saw shytan very thin on Arafah day ( the tenth day of du Alhejjah) and he asked him about the cause of this. the shytan replied that Allh has forgiven all the nation of Mohammad at that day and this day is the hardest day of all days on me.
In a Hadeeth of the Prophet (pbuh): Fasting one of the ten days is equal to fasting a whole year. And making night prayers in one of these nights is equal to praying at the night of Qader in Ramadan.(Sahih Hadeeth)
In a Qudsi hadeeth: Grief upon those who were deprived from the good of the ten days and you should fast the 9th day especially because it has a lot of rewards more than you can count.( THIS HADEETH IS WEAK)
Some of the scholars said that Allah has chosen out of the nights and days three tens: the last ten nights of Ramadan because al Quader night is in one of them, the first ten days of Du al hejjah because of the blessing of Arafah day, and the first ten days of Muharam because of the blessing of Ashoraa day.
Some of the scholars say: Whoever fasts the nine days of Du al hejjah Allah inshallah will give him 10 blessings: blessing in his age, blessing in in his wealth, safeguard in his children, penance or repentance on his sins, doubling his good deeds, make it easy on him at the time of his death, light in his grave, Allah will make his good deeds weigh a lot on the day of judgement, to be saves from hell fire and to ascend high in the Jennah.
Prophet Moses (pbuh) said: Oh my lord I asked you and you didn't answer my prayers so teach me words i ask you with which you will answer me. Allah told him oh Moses if the ten days of Dul alhejjah came say La Ilaha Illa Allah i would give you what you want. Moses said oh my Lord all you servants say these words. Allah said Whoever says La Ilaha Illa Allah in these days if the seven earths and the seven heavens were put in on hand of the scale and these words were put in the other hand. these words will over weigh the earths and heavens. We understand that mentioning Allah in these days is very much liked especially La Ilaha Illa Allah.
Arafah Day
This is the day were people in pilgrimage stand on Arafat mountain and this day is a geat and very important day and it will be inshallah on March the 15th. In a Sahih Hadeeth our Prophet(pbuh) said:In Fasting Arafah day I hope from Allah to forgive the bad deeds of the year you are in and the year before this. He also said: The best of duaa is on the day of Arafah.
In another hadeeth: No Muslim says-( Labaykah Allahoma labayk Labykah La Shareeka Laka Labayk Inna Alhamda wa Al ne'mata Laka walmulk La Shareeka lak) and these are the words the people say in Pilgrimage and they mean O Allah we respond to your call for us and all the praise and blessing is for you and there is no partner to you- In Arafah day The stones and the trees on his right and left sides will say the same.
The day of Slaughter
This is the first day of Eid al Adha.
Our Prophet said that No deed is more likable to Allah in this day than slaughtering for the sake of Allah...
The reason for slaughtering is to follow the Sunna of Ibraheem(pbuh) when Allah sent a goat for him to sacrifice instead of sacrificing his son Ismaeal.
In another a hadeeth: The prophet told his wife Aicha to go and witness the slaughter of her sacrifice because with the first drop of blood Allah will forgive your sins, she said is this for us your family or for all the believers he said for us ant the believers.
In another Hadeeth: he who prays like us and does what we do he is from us. And he who doesn't pray like us and doesn't slaughter a sacrifice is not from us( if he can afford it). so slaughtering a sacrifice is an assured Sunnah on everyone who can afford it whether hye was in pilgrimage or not.
Conditions of the sacrifice(udhiyah)
1. to make intention (niah)
2. the sacrifice shouldn't have any defects or diseases.
3. to sacrifice after the Prayer of Eid not before that and they can sacrifice in all the days of the Eid.
4. it's not allowed to sell any part of it.
5. To try to slaughter it himself or at least to witness the slaughter if he/she can.
6. to direct the sacrifice to the Qiblah direction and to give it some water to drink.
7. to mention the name of Allah on it (bismellah Allaho akbar) this is the sacrifice of ( the name of the person who paid for it).
8. to sharpen the knife to be used in slaughtering.
9. to kill it fast and not to torture it.
10. the age of the sacrifice: a camel 5yrs and above, a cow 2 years and above, a female sheep 1 year and above, a goat 2 years and above.
11. it can be divided into 3 parts one to be given to the owner of the sacrifice, the second third to be given to the poor and needy and the last third section to be given to the neighbours and relatives.
12. in buying a camel or a cow, 7 or less can share the price of it. But as for sheep and goat only for one person.
Ask shykh Aziz about any other details.
EId Prayer
An assured Sunnah. If the women would go to make it they shouldn't be wearing perfume or makeup.
It's 2 Raqaa. After first Allah akbar: we say Allah Akbar(Allah is the greatest) 7 times between each of them we say Sobhan Allah Wa Alhamdulellah Wa La Ilaha Illa Allah Wa Allah Akbar. Then we read the opening chapter and a small Surah and continue a normal Salat in the second Raqaa we say after Allah akbar of standing : Allah Akbar 5 times between each of them we say Sobhan Allah Wa Alhamdulellah Wa La Ilaha Illa Allah Wa Allah Akbar. Then we read the opening chapter and a small Surah and continue a normal Salat. Then listen to the speech and duaa of the Shykh.
You can make this prayer at home if you couldn't attend the group prayer and the time of this prayer is on the first day of Eid after the sun rise in a little while.
