THE CIRCLE OF MANNERS

The Circle of Manners includes everybody.

It is quite apparent that each religion has special characteristics that are considered a unique quality of that religion. Undoubtedly in Islam you can find special worships that its followers are obliged to do and considered registered matters other have nothing to do with them.

But when it comes to behavioral teachings things are quite different. A Muslim is obliged to deal with all the people on earth with manners and virtues that are free of doubt and dishonesty. Being truthful, tolerant, loyal, cooperative, and generous and many other things are obligations on every Muslim whether he was dealing with Muslims or else others.

The Holy Quran has ordered us not to get involved in hate arising arguments that do not benefit religions anything with the Jews or Christians. Allah said And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, except with means better (than mere disputation), unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury); but say, "We believe in the Revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; our God and your God is One; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam).

It also happened that the Prophet pbuh owed some money to a Jew. This Jew came to claim his debt saying that the clan of the Prophet are people who prolong in paying their debts. Omar the strong companion of the Prophet wanted to discipline this impolite man and wanted to kill him
The Prophet ordered Omar to cool down saying, Both me and the Jew need better than this from you: you should order him to be polite when he has a claim and you should tell me that I should pay my debt on time.

Islam ordered justice even with a non believer or a sinner. The Prophet pbuh said, The (Duaa) prayer of the oppressed is acceptable even if he was not a believer because his disbelief would only affect himself.

With such texts and more Islam forbade its followers from committing any injustice or harm toward those who do not agree with their religion.

Another example of good manners with the people of other religions what was told that the family of the son of Omar slaughtered a goat to feed on. When he came he asked: have you sent any to our Jewish neighbor? And he said I heard the Prophet pbuh say, The angel Gabriel kept advising me of good treatment to my neighbor until I thought he was going to give him share of the inheritance.

Islam also ordered everyone to treat his relatives and parent kindly and check in on them even if they didnt believe in what we believe in because being on the right path does not mean to neglect the relatives and family. Allah said: But if they strive to make thee join in worship with Me things of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice (And consideration), and follow the way of those who turn to Me (in love). In the End the return of you all is to Me, and I will tell you the truth (and meaning) of all that ye did.

This was from the personal view. As from the public view Islam has established that in order for a nation to survive and for its civilization flourish this nation should guarantee the well being of good manners within it. Once the good manners are washed away the nation would be washed away with them.

The Prophet made that clear when he addressed his people by saying, Imams (leaders) are from Quraysh and both me and them have great right upon you provided they do three matters, when they are asked to be merciful they do so, when they judge among people to be just, and when they give a vow they are loyal to it. He who doesnt do that is cursed by Allah, the angels and the whole people.

And upon that we say that if a certain ruling was characterized by Islam and the Quran but when people look into it they find injustice, ruthlessness and unloyalty, then by the name of Islam and the Quran this rule is worthy of curse in earth and heavens.

Al-Hasan said, the Prophet pbuh said, If Allah wants good happen to a nation He would appoint rulers fromthe wise upon them and would make the money in he hands of those who are generous and tolerant but if Allah wants evil happen to people then He would appoint fools rulers upon them and would make the money in the hands of the stingy among them.

The Imam Ibn Taymiah said, Allah would establish a just nation even if it doesnt believe in Him but would not establish an unjust nation even if it believed in Him.

Conclusion:

Good manners and polite behaviors are from the essences of Islam rather they are considered the whole of religion and the whole of life. If a nation found itself in a law degree or status in its relation to Allah or among other nations then this has happened because of the degrading it has in its virtues and manners.
