Anger
Narrated Abu horayrah that a man came to the Prophet (pbuh) and said oh messenger of Allah advise me and the Prophet replied, Don't becom angry, the man asked the same question again and again and the prophet gave him the same answer.
Another Hadeeth: The Prophet said be ware of Anger because it is a fireband in the heart of the son of Adam. Didn't you see the red color in his eyes and the swelling of his neck veins.
Another Hadeeth: The Prophet said , three characteristics whoever possesses them Allah will bring him near to Him almighty and enshrouded him with His mercy and entered him to Jennah. The first one is that when he is given something he would be thankful. the second is that if he was able to he would forgive those who offend him and the third one is that when he becomes angry he would cool down.
One of the scholars said: There are four characteristics for the disbelief (kufr): to flame up with rage, the forbidden desires, greed, and clumsiness ( that is to behave in a rude, impolite way).
One of the wise men said: There is nothing harder on shytan than a scholar who has patience if he speaks, he speaks with knowledge and if he keeps silence he would do so with tolerance. Shytan would say that the scholars silence is harder on me than his speech.
The explanation of this is that the cause of the power this scholar has over the shytan lies in the two weapons he owns Knowledge (elm) and tolerance (helm).
Another Hadeeth: the Prophet said, Anger is from shytan and tthe shytan is made of fire and what extinguishes the fire is water so if you become angry go make ablution (woduu).
The scholars say that the origin of anger is not accepting the rule of Allah that is sometimes one might say why did Allah do that to me and this is not accepting the destiny of Allah.
Omar ibn al Khatab in the beginning of his speeches: he succeeds who was protected from anger, greed and inclination to follow the desires.
A man said to Abu bakr I will insult you with curses that will enter the grave with you, Abu bakr replied oh brother they will enter your grave not mine. This means that the man will face the punishment for his bad deeds not Abu bakr.
Our Prophet said, whoever supresses his anger Allah will forgive his sins.
A story: A man saw Al Hassan son of Ali and said to him i cursed you and your father and said awful things about both of you, Al Hassan replied Oh brother if yopu need anything money, food, etc. just ask me and he didn't punish the man. The man said I've never seen such a tolerant man and I love him more than anyone else.
Another Hadeeth: The prophet said that if the son of Adam becomes angry shytan plays with him tthe same way children play with a ball by thier feet.
A story: Abu bakr was sitting in the Masjid with the Prophet when a man came in and insulted Abu bakr but Abu bakr kept silent and the man repeated his insulting 3 times and after the fourth time Abu bakr replied at the man. When that happened our Prophet left the Masjid. Abu bakr followed him and asked about the reason for his leaving the Masjid. The prophet said that when you didn't answer the man an Angel came down to defend you but when you became angry and replied to the man the Angel went out and the shytan came in and I don't sit in a place where there is a shytan in.
One of the scholars said: I was never angry from anyone before I think about three things: If this man was in a higher status than myself i will keep his respect. If he was in a lower status than myself i would raise myself above becoming angry from him. And if he was a match for me i would be generous to him.
The cure of Anger:
1. With knowledge: one should think about the credits of suppressing his/her anger and in the rewards he would get from Allah for that.
2. To try to fear himself from Allah's punishment and to remember the power of Allah over him which is a lot more than his power over other people.
3. To think about his appearance at the time of anger how his eyes would turn red and he wwould become like a beast.
4. To make ablution (wodu) or to take a shower and to sit down if he was standing up and to lie down if he was sitting.
5. to remember that the origin of anger is always the shytan.
P.S. There is a kind of anger which is likable and that is to become angry when the things Allah ordered us not to do are committed by others.
