The Story About the Creation of Adam
Part one
When Allah wanted to create Adam He ordered soil from earth to be elevated to him.
In a Hadeeth narrated by Imam Ahmad, Allah created Adam from a handful that He taken from all the earth. In another Hadeeth it was told that the angels brought it up to Him after been gathered by the angels.
So Sons of Adam came with various natures and colors like the nature of earth, white, red, black, and kind, easy, harsh, rough, and so on.
Then the soil was wet by water until it became clay then more water was added to it until it became very wet clay that it became so sticky, then Allah formed man with His own hands at a shape of a statue. Then it was left to dry out until it became dry dark clay.
Allah said: Behold, the Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man from clay.
And said: We created man from sounding clay, from mud molded into shape
And said: He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery...
In a Hadeeth narrated by Bukhari, Allah created Adam and he is 60 arms (meters) tall and ever since people are becoming shorter.
In another Hadeeth, Allah created Adam 60 arms tall and 7 arms wide.
In a Hadeeth narrated by Muslim, when Allah created Adam He left him a period of time. Iblees (Satan) used to pass by him and when he looked inside him and found that he was hollow he knew that this is a kind of creature that cant get hold of himself.
A group of other Ahadeeth detailed what Iblees did with Adam. Ibn Abbas said:
Allah ordered with Adams soil and He made him from wet clay with His own hands and left him a period of time. Iblees used to pass by him and would hit him with his feet and a sound would come as a result like the sound when you hit a big jar. When the Angels passed by him they would become so frightened of him. Iblees would then say, you were created for a purpose then he would enter from Adams mouth and get out of his bottom and then he said to the angels dont be afraid of this. If I were given power over him I would destroy him and if he were given power over me I would disobey him.
Then came the time of blowing the soul into Adam. Allah said:
When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him.
And in the Hadeeth came the details of that. When Allah breathed spirit into Adam and the spirit came to his head he sneezed. The angels told him, say Alhamdulellah (praise be to Allah). He said that. Allah then said, Mercy be on you from your lord.
When the spirit came to his eyes he looked at the fruit of Paradise and started to meditate in them. When it came to his belly he desired food and before it reached his feet he jumped to the fruits of Jennah and that what Allah mentioned in the Quran:
Man is a creature of haste
After that Allah wiped on Adams back and took out his offspring until the judgement day.
Once Omar asked the Prophet pbuh about this verse in the Quran:
When thy Lord drew forth from the Children of Adam from their loins, their descendants, and made them testify concerning themselves, (saying): "Am I not your Lord (Who cherishes and sustains you)?" They said: "Yea! we do testify!" (this), lest ye should say on the Day of Judgment: "Of this we were never mindful.
So the prophet pbuh said, Allah created Adam then he wiped on his back and took out his offspring until the Judgment day and then said, I created those for Jennah and with the deeds of the people of Jennah they work. And I created these for Hell fire and with the deeds of the people of hell they work. A man asked the Prophet so why bother work oh Prophet of Allah? He said, if Allah created one for Hell fire he would enable him to do the deeds of the hell people so they die on that and then enter hell. And If Allah created one for Paradise fire he would enable him to do the deeds of the paradise people so they die on that and then enter paradise and every one is facilitated to do what he/she was created for.
Iblees was one of the good Jinn and wasnt one of the angels but because he was so good and never disobeyed Allah he was raised to the status of angels. Allah then gave an order for Iblees and the Angels to bow down to Adam. This bowing down is not bowing down of worship but of honoring and respect. The angels carried out the order at once except Iblees who refused to obey what Allah has ordered.
Allah told us the story in the Quran:
It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels bow down to Adam, and they bowed down; not so Iblis; he refused to be of those who bow down.
Iblees felt arrogance and envious of Adam and that was his attitude and so Allah became angry of him.
Allah said:
It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels bow down to Adam, and they bowed down; not so Iblis; he refused to be of those who bow down. Allah) said: "What prevented thee from bowing down when I commanded thee? He said: "I am better than he: Thou didnt create me from fire, and him from clay. Allah) said: "Get thee down from this: it is not for thee to be arrogant here: get out, for thou art of the meanest (of creatures). He said: "Give me respite till the day they are raised up." (Allah) said: "Be thou amongst those who have respite." He said: "Because Thou hast thrown me out of the Way, lo! I will lie in wait for them on Thy Straight Way: "Then will I assault them from before them and behind them, from their right and their left: nor wilt Thou find, in most of them, gratitude (for Thy mercies)."
So the first of sins was arrogance and thats what led for the scholars to say that the root of all sins is arrogance and with that sense came a Hadeeth, He doesnt enter Jennah he who has an atom weight of arrogance in his heart.
So one of us should never be arrogant and think that he is better than anybody, a poor guy, an employeeetc.
Adam was created knowledgeable and not ignorant. He had knowledge more than angels. When Adam stood up after the spirit was breathed into him Allah told him to go to a group of angels and to say Assalamualikom peace be upon you and he did. They replied, "Wa alikom Assalam wa rahmatullah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon you) then Allah told him this is your greeting and the greetings of your offspring. And the language that Adam used was Arabic.
Allah said:
And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: "Tell Me the names of these if ye are right." They said: "Glory to Thee: of knowledge we have none, save what Thou hast taught us: in truth it is Thou Who art perfect in knowledge and wisdom. He said: "O Adam! Tell them their names." When he had told them, Allah said: "Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heavens and earth, and I know what ye reveal and what ye conceal?"
The scholars said and especially ibn Abbas that these names are the names of everything Allah created. Then Allah taught him how to make things - the original manufacturing - like how to use fire, iron, woodetc.
And from this we know that Allah that Allah not just honored Adam with the way he looks but also with knowledge and science.
