STORYLINE: A grieving mother, Telly Parada, is struggling to cope with the loss of her 9-year-old son. She is stunned when her psychiatrist and her husband tell her that she has created eight years of memories of a son she never had. But when she meets the father of one of her son's friend who is having the same experience, Telly embarks on a mission to prove her son's existence and her sanity. MY REVIEW: My dad had been on my ass trying to get me to watch this movie for awhile, so I decided to just go ahead and watch it. Man, what a rush! I was compelled by the simplistic, yet intriguing story. You really feel for Moore's character, and are involved with what she's trying to do. Unfortunately, there's no real suspense in guessing the ending, mostly because you can tell immediately she's not wrong and there really is something wierd going on. They even give very un-subtle hints to what the wierdness might be. Some of the choices in the movie are steered in more "X-Files" feeling atmosphere, which is good and all, but kind of took away some of the fun. I would have rather the movie stayed more "believable", but instead it goes the way of the "huge and bankable" ending. The movie feels small, yet decided to be big in the end. It didn't quite work for me.
There are also a number of good scares in the film that actually got to me. For instance, there is a great car accident, and after my heart started beating again, I realized I needed a new pair of underwear. My dad on the other hand needed a new set of clothes entirely. This happened about five times in the movie. Sounds fun, huh? Some of the ending slightly pissed me off, but for the most part, I didn't have a problem with it. The real issue at hand is that I was entertained...plus any movie where I get to see a lady in underwear automatically gets a 6/10 at least.
