STORYLINE: Joel (Jim Carrey) is stunned to discover that his girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has had her memories of their tumultuous relationship erased. Out of desperation, he contracts the inventor of the process, Dr. Howard Mierzwaik (Tom Wilkinson), to have Clementine removed from his own memory. But as Joel's memories progressively disappear, he begins to rediscover their earlier passion. From deep within the recesses of his brain, Joel attempts to escape the procedure. As Dr. Mierzwiak and his crew (Kristen Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood) chase him through the maze of his memories, it's clear that Joel just can't get her out of his head. MY REVIEW: This is another great movie from the fantastic writer of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Adaptation., Human Nature, and Being John Malkovich. This is another wierd movie, and in this case, wierd is good. This is actually the best kind of wierd. This is "Kaufman" wierd, baby!
This film likes to play with time and memory. These two aspects are things that have been done before, and have been used to their full potential. This is no way takes away from the effect of this movie though. For some reason, the best movies in the world have to do with memory and time. Hmmm......anyways, back to the movie. I thought Jim Carrey was great as the nervous, fidgety Joel, and Kate Winslet was also wonderful as the neurotic hotty. In fact, everyone was good. If there is one thing that this movie didn't skimp out on is talent. Behold such great actors as: Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Wilkinson, Elijah Wood, and Mark Ruffalo. They were all stupendous. (I could really see the talent when Carrey was acting in the place of an infant....just joking.....no wait, I'm actually not) There really isn't much else to say but that you just have to see this movie. There is a nice twist that's very obvious if you think about it, as well as nice touches all around. The film adds minor subtle details in every way possible and, as a whole, it shows immensley. It's what forms the movie. Each character's personality is different, which is very uncommon considering the always normal 2-D characters. I also appreciated the very lucious Dunst-in-panties scene. And for that alone, this movie gets an 8 out of ten. End of story.
