
Solution: The seven segments of this figure represent the seven segments that make up the numbers on a digital clock. For each of the 10 digits, some of the segments will be used, while some will be unused. For example, the digit zero uses all segments except for the center segment. The numbers inside the segments are two-digit numbers that equal the total sum of all the digits that don't use that segment. For example, the upper-right segment is unused in the digits 5 and 6. These digits sum to 11, the two-digit number (written horizontally) in the upper-right segment. The top segment is unused in the digits 1 and 4, which sums to 5 (or 05). The center segment is unused in the digits 0, 1, and 7. These sum to 8 (or 08), which means the question marks should be replaced with the solution numbers: 0 and 8. |
