Choices

Solution: From the start of the maze, there are three paths which end in letters (N, E, and T). These three paths each involve a small number of choices to be made. Each choice is either to move Left or Right.

For example, to get to the 'N', first one must choose Left, then Left again at the next choice, then Left, and finally Right. So, the route to the 'N' is Left, Left, Left, Right.

These choices correspond to the letters on the right. Starting at a Capital Letter in the list, one can move Left or Right to get to a new Letter. This new Letter is also in the list and will have its own Letters that it can move to.

For example, starting at the letter 'L', one can move Right to 'O' or Left to 'E'. Starting at 'L' and following the sequence of choices from above, we first move Left from 'L' to get to 'E'. Then we move Left from 'E' to get to 'M'. Then Left from 'M' to get to 'O'. Finally, we move Right from 'O' to get to 'N'. Thus, spelling the word 'LEMON'.

For each of the three paths, there is one word that can be formed in this manner, which will end with the given letter. Working backwords from the three letters, we can figure out that these three words are 'LEMON' (Left, Left, Left, Right), 'DANCE' (Left, Right, Left, Left), and 'PLOT' (Right, Right, Left).

So, what do the three paths have in common? The fitting five-letter solution word: Twist.
