The relative peace of Kuei Meadow is abruptly broken by the sound of wild laughter, and the next moment two equines burst out of the misty gloom, racing toward you. You have barely enough time to react and duck, but they see you before you do, and quickly veer off on either side. Their shrill laughter breaks the steely silence, and both do a quick about-turn and race back toward you.
"FIRSTFIRSTFIRST!!! I'm first!!" one of them shrieks, tossing her mane proudly. The second laughs gaily and bobs her mask-adorned head. "Very well Yenoa, I'll let you go first -- even though I know I was the winner." She grins, while the first pouts a little bit. "Aww c'mon, Norai. I'd like to really win sometime. You never let me win, even tho' you say you do. No fair!"
Norai shrugs, and turns toward you. "Oh, hello gryphon!" she greets, as if it were the first time she saw you. "I'm Norai'K'Tiaana, while this is my twin sister Yenoa'K'Tirr. We're dekari, if you hadn't already known." She lets out a sharp giggle, quickly stifling it. "We like racing!" Yenoa'K'Tirr adds, her ears perking up. "Saayyyy.... can you be the judge?! Because I never seem to win a race, and I can never tell whether I came first or not. I'm going to win THIS race!"
Norai smiles in challenge, looking very sure of herself. "Really? Let's do it then! And we'll see who does it best. Down to the other end of Kuei! GO!!" The dekari take off, and in their excitement they seem to have forgotten you completely. Their shrill laughter still rings in your ears long after they've left, and you quickly slip away in the opposite direction. Perhaps they wouldn't notice anything amiss....
