You continue walking downstream aways, just watching varous things go by... After a moment you hear some noises in the brush, and stop, staring curiously. The 'something' evidently hears you, and pops his head out of the bush.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!" The cat-like varia, as you now recognize him to be, slides on a plant and lands backwards with a loud *SPLASH* in the river! The soaking wet stallion stands up, and shakes himself off like a dog, whiskers drooping from the weight of the water. "BLUH! ACK! GRYPHON! Augggh... Awww... What the heck. I'm Eilz'yena, 'Cat Eyes', I was named such for obvious reasons." The stallion stands up as tall as he can, blinking. "I see you have met my mate, Z!l'kir'etha. She is mutated, just as I am." He nods in the direction of the amulet you're wearing. He edgily dances on the tips of his paws and hooves, eying the bushes, and safety. "Ah, you better go now, I need to get back to scouting the... Uhh... Perimiter..." With that, he bolts back to the safety of the large bushes, dissapearing.
