Lightning shoots overhead in a bright arc, illuminating the meadow in a brief instant -- and is gone the next moment, plunging you back into the confines of fog. At least this isn't as bad as Kivuli Jungle, you decide, since the mist is less dense and it's actually quite spacious here. You stretch your wings and give them a good shake, before refolding them and walking onward.
A looming, twisted shape appears in front of you -- and you narrowly avoid running straight into one of those stunted trees that dot Kuei Meadow. Now that's annoying. Who would've thought of trees growing in a meadow? It doesn't make sense to you. Safety hazard, definitely, what with all this confounding mist that blurs your vision and reduces visibility to mere meters.
"Aaahh, don't winge, gryphon. It's not that bad once you get used to it." Now how did SHE discern your thoughts?! You look about for the source, and see a rakish mare reclining under the tree -- now why hadn't you noticed her earlier?
"Nearly stepped on me in your confusion, gryphon. Watch where you're going next time," the rakish says not unkindly, and her ruby eyes smile at you through the gloom. "I'm Danma'Kasuu, which means 'Silent Masquerade'. And I don't believe I've met you before," she cocks her head and gives you a thoughtful look. "A lot of us look almost the same, don't we? Ha, but I'm the only blue one in Kuei Meadow. One gets used to it. Stick around long enough and you'll be able to tell us apart. Vallaii'Maikae and Teser'Aisa, for instance. Easy as anything."
Danma'Kasuu flicks her tail toward you. "Now if you'd excuse me... I'd like to get back to the nap I was taking just now. Good luck, and don't get lost, yes?" With that, Danma'Kasuu closes her eyes, dismissing you. You quietly take your leave, disappearing back into the shroud of mist.
