Tufts,
You better watch your dirty asses, because we here at Trinity
have some secret weapons that will stun and amaze the likes of you,
the night of the 10th. Yes siree, we have a guy that can chug a beer
faster than Rodrigues can take his pants off. And by the time Pete
has his pants off, our secret weapon will have made an origami
elephant of his beer can, and then he will eat it. This goes for you
other Ninny schools too, and don't you forget it!

Start tremblin',

Bellows obviously has a way with words. And for the person who called him a viking, you underestimate Dana at his best. He destroys campus whenever he wants. I don't want to brag for him but last saturday Dana's word for the day was 'fucking rape' Granted thats two words but who's really counting. As part of the dirty hippie contigent here on the Tufts xc team I am all for free love. I am always looking for the perfect naked woman to join my on a quick streak round campus. SHe's just gotta be fast... Sincerely naked in medford

Rumor has it that one of the womens teams from Maine could be favorites to dethrone Wesleyan for the womens team title. Watch out Wes, they're really fast up there cause they're always getting chased by their drunk and horny fathers. Rumor also has it that the Tufts men are going to perfect score the race, and then all get laid by the Trinity women. But these are just rumors...

Yes, folks, I can attest that the jovial Hamilton crew did make it last year (only to find most of Amherst's team too sloshed to run) and did have an amazing time. **SO, TO ALL YOU FOLKS WHO AREN'T SURE IF YOU SHOULD GO: GO, GO, GO. do as shaggy says, have some freaking nescac lovin'. But the nescac lovin' will go on, I say! this is evident from several Hamilton track & XC buffs running in the midnight race in Central Park on New Year's, and who saw several Amherst track & XC buffs! We even chatted in 15 degree weather for a while. That is the PROLONGED NESCAC LOVIN' THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. I just thought I would put my piece in about the beer mile. Plus, the drive isn't that bad. And no one under 4 hours is allowed to complain about the drive. So, make the hike, listen to our pleas for some nescac lovin'. He really should have been a Viking, that way he could burn, rape, and pillage every weekend. He would have loved it. But as far as the beer mile goes, his heart is in the right place. He's got the love. That's what I'm looking for from the rest of you, a little love and commitment. You know that Tufts, Amherst, and Wesleyan will be there in debaucherous force. What say the rest of you? Hamilton made the journey last year and, Steve can attest, had the time of their lives. Williams men showed, but no women. The Maine schools and Conn College were no where to be found. What we need is a little commitment, a little NESCAC love. ARE YOU GOING TO BE THERE? I promise you this is a party to end parties. Let's hear from the rest of you. Men and Women both. Which brings me to my next point, which isn't so much about love but about free love. We at Amherst have been playing this great game over dinner the past few weeks called Six Degrees of Hookup Separation. Surprisingly, a large portion of our team (the exact numver is classified) can be linked together by less than 6 hookups. I got to thinking, wouldn't it be great to link all the NESCAC teams together by six degrees (or less) of hookup separation. So go to the next few meets and pick out a NESCAC cutie for yourself and then make a date for the beer mile. Love from the valley Shaggy

Inviting yourself onto another campus at a moment's notice seems impractical and unfair so just hold your horses for a couple weeks. You and you're greasy Tufts gang of misfits will have ample opportunity to get the trophy back. I think Wesleyan is ready to host the event on April 10 although wait for confirmation from those on campus. Once that's confirmed, we can work on the other stuff. I agree with Alsdorf, some rules need to be figured out as well as effective officiating and scoring systems. Last year's mayhem was fun once. Also, getting as many NESCAC schools involved should be a high priority. It's a long haul for some schools but should be worth it. From what I've read the following schools are in: Wesleyan, Amherst, Tufts, Trinity, Williams, Hamilton and Bates. No word from: Middlebury, Conn College, Bowdoin, or Colby. I'm sure we all know people who run for these other schools so add them to the list and talk to them at this weekend's meet. FOR SOME REASON I'M HAVING TROUBLE SENDING HIM A MESSAGE. hey kids: while the fox-boy/tufts chat group is pretty funny at times, it seems as though we're straying from the focus. here's what i think you guys need to address to get this moving along: 1) Date/Location. There isn't going to be one date/location that makes everyone happy. Most seem agreeable with April 10 @ Wesleyan. If that's cool with you guys then one person send a message that the 2nd annual nescac beer mile will be held at Wesleyan on April 10. QUIT WASTING TIME AND SETTLE THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. 2) Attendace. This thing will suck unless there are lots of schools represented, men and women. Tufts is a sure thing. Trinity will do what we say. Rob Mitchell will commit Amherst to anything he supsects Pat and I are behind. If Conn College has an ounce of fun then they'll come. Williams will be there. Hamilton needs a little push. So does Bates. Bowdion, Colby, and Middlebury???? 3) Planning the party. Obviously, little of this needs to be done with the big cross-team mailing list. Last year, Amherst just said show up at Davis 202. They took care of everything else on their own. Remember also that last year's event at Amherst was THE BEST PARTY EVER for some. Big shoes to fill. I'm sure that you can pull it together just think everything through. 4) Rules. Throw in your two cents but you'll have plenty other stuff to figure out. 5) T-shirts. They were awesome last year. Maybe ask Amherst about that. 6) Money. Maybe charge something like $1 per entry to pay for the post race kegs and other shit. Hit up recent/local alums. 7) Race officiating. Going to need to round up some volunteers and think of a system to use to score correctly and easily. 8) Responsibilty. Hate to be the one to bring this up but having 100+ invited guests on campus could prove interesting. If anything happens and it comes back to you then you could get in trouble. Last year, when my Cardinal Character had all the beer mile references, the athletic administration didn't say a word. I'd find it surprising if they would be so naive with the event on campus. Similarly, Coach Raye thought something was up when there was vomit on the track every weekend last year but will certainly be pissed off when the entire track is covered in two feet of NESCAC vomit. This isn't said to scare you but be prepared to clean up the track afterwards and cover your ass. that's it for now. good luck. Tufts is no longer in possesion of the much prized silver spittoon, and the floor of my apartment is now covered in a disgusting brown slime. To rectify this situation, I propose we have a beer mile as soon as possible, even this weekend, so that the chalice can return to beautiful Medford Massachusetts after Tufts men rape the shit out of the rest of you NESCAC schools. In fact, to make this year's beer mile at least a little competitive, I suggest we team schools up, like say Tufts versus the rest of you pussy-asses. And if Wesleyan does in fact hold the race, I hope Middleton is ready to feel the wrath...

I'd rather go for less alcohol content over wide mouth personally (even though I can't chug) and I would say that we need a better way to tell who is finishing and in what order. Guys and girls were just gettin in a random line and we (those who didnt run) were trying to figure that shit out. As for dates, we'd really like to have it on the 10th for Burkie's sake. He was really upset last year about not coming and his marathon time suffered as he ran 2:43. So if he makes it this year look for him to represent Tufts and NESCAC with a sub 2:30 effort. As for the Williams team, I'm guessing you'd get better numbers from us on the 17th, but the 10th would be fine by us as well. Site: Wesleyan is good. We'd love to have it here, but a)it's not a central location, and b)we'd all get arrested. I think it's time we started ironing out the official rules we're going to use at this thing. Last year I was pretty dismayed at the number of pansy-ass widemouth cans people were drinking from, and at the number of half-full cans I heard hitting the track at the start of each lap. If we're going to make this an annual event, let's do it right. later paul

Unfortunatly we are sort of out of the way from the rest of you all, so having it here would be some what difficult. Anyway, Weslyan or Conn, or where ever it is, we will do our best to arrive, compete, vomit, and then party. I unfortunatly could not make it to the festivities last year, but will do my best this year. I know those of us here at Hamilton that went, are already psyched for race day. We are at Rochester the 10th of April, RPI for UCAA's on the 17th and then obviously at Connecticut on the 24th. Whatever we can do to help out put this all together we will do, I don't think we will really see any of you until the beer mile (ECAC's indoor maybe), but e-mail will be good enough. I hope all is well with you all, Samuel P.S. I would like to add a great beer mile Hamilton representative for the ambassdor list, Jeff Garte: [email protected]

Here's what Mr. Big and myself have discovered. If Wesleyan were to host, it would have to be on April 10th because they have this thing called "WesFest" which means 300 pre-frosh smothering campus the weekend of the 17th. This will allow the Tufts runners (and I believe there is Amherst sentiment to run it as well) to run the Boston Marathon the weekend of the 17th. How does this work for people? Maybe everyone should focus on the number of participants. After all, the invention of beer truly encompassed the emphasis the idea of quantity over quality. Anyway, I warmed-up around the outdoor track at Wesleyan today and noticed that the fence Fox-Boyd is speaking of couldn't keep my dog in the yard--the thing is about two feet tall, much shorter than the one at Amherst that tore Yo Flamino's shorts into shreads last year when the cops showed up, sending the Tufts crew into a horny frenzy. But just scoping out the general prospects, I think Wes should host this year, assuming Amherst wants out. My 2 cents. Cheers, Adam ps. on another note, there was some rumoring today that last year's trophy cup was stashed somewhere in the field house during the Wes Invite today. Is there any validity to this, and if so, in whose possession is it? Oh yeah, on a totally different note--as some of you may know, four of us Bantams spent last summer out in Boulder, Colorado, basically getting in some quality altitude X-C training and soaking up beers and the good mountain life. Their track is rather removed from campus and they owe us for not showing up last year. Plus, if our Public Safety shows up, which they almost certainly will, there are only two exits from the track, which is fenced in, and they lead to Long Lane (a juvinile detention center) and right into the parking lot where public safety would be. I can't possibly see the Conn College Police showing up at such a remote location as their track. Plus they're hosting the outdoor NESCAC meet, so why not go for the sweep? When the wind blows in Medford, the entire tufts team gets a damn hard-on, on a good day, if they aren't too busy looking at kiddie porn on the internet. At least Amherst has UMass-Medford is the capital of shit! And try to sell that 'central location' crap to Hamilton! Personally, though, I think it would be fun to party with you guys if you could get off your high horses. Wherever we do it, we plan to have fun. I say we leave it up to Wesleyan-they are the true instigators of this thing. As far as selling points for Amherst: there is a notable lack of security, but just enough to make things interesting, maybe provide a chase or two. The country air is good for the lungs, and promotes horniness among women if held here, it is more likely that williams will show, and that is what we all want to do, right-kick williams' ass! on the basis of performance, who had the best showing at Nationals this year? Respectfully, Mitch

You're supposed to have the big silver cup and I want to see where it is now. That spitoon is a marvelous spendor to see and I'm hoping y'all can reap the benefits of its aura. Does Tufts still have it? GOOD LUCK AT NEW ENGLANDS NEXT WEEKEND! and for those of you that don't remember... Official Rules (from http://www.con.wesleyan.edu/~pbutler/beer.html) These are the Official Kingston, Ontario Individual rules, copied from their page. I think they will suffice and will allow us to rank on their World Record list. 1. Each competitor drinks four cans of beer and completes four laps (Start - beer/lap, beer/lap, beer/lap, beer/lap - finish). 2. Beer must be consumed before the lap is begun, within the transition area which is the 10 meter zone before the start/finish line on a 400m track. 3. The race begins with the drinking of the first beer in the last meter of the transition zone to ensure the comptitors run a complete mile (1609 meters). 4. Women drink three beers in four laps and start the race by immediately running the first lap. ie. no beer is consumed before the first lap. 5. Competitors must drink canned beer and the cans should not be less than 355ml (the standard can volume in Canada) or 12oz (the imperial equivalent). Bottles may be substituted for cans as long as they are at least 12 oz (341 ml) in volume. There has been no evidence that standard beer bottles pour quicker than cans, but we recommend the use of cans whenever possible. 6. No specialized cans or bottles may be used that give an advantage by allowing the beer to pour at a faster rate. ie the new "mega mouth cans" or "wide mouth bottles" are prohibited. 7. Beer cans must not be tampered with in any manner, ie. no shotgunning or puncturing of the can except for opening the can by the tab at the top. The same applies with bottles - no straws or other aids are allowed in order to aid in the speed of pouring. 8. Beer must be a minimum of 5% alcohol by volume. 9. Each beer can must not be opened until the competitor enters the transition zone on each lap. 10. Competitors who vomit before they finish the race must complete one penalty lap at the end of the race (immediately after the completion of their 4th lap). Note: Vomitting more than once during the race still requires only one penaly lap at the end. Here are the proposed team rules and NESCAC ammendments (as of 4/16): 1. Women will drink 4 beers, just like the men. 2. Team score will be determined as the sum of points accumulated by the top five finishers (top seven displace) from each team. "Points" will be defined as: 1 for the last finisher, 2 for 2nd to last,..., (# of finishers) for 1st. This will yield the same team score as a cross-country style race would, but give points to any team that has a finisher. 3. Mens' and Womens' champions will be crowned separately. 4. The Open Championship is open to ALL. However, team scores will only be calculated for those affiliated with the school (alumni, family, coaches, pets). Up to 7 (either gender) can score per team. 5. The team cup presented to the winner of both the Mens' and Womens' championships will go home with a single team and switch possession EVERY NESCAC championship (outdoor track and cross country) until another beermile is held (each year?). 6. The order of events will be first, the Womens' Champs, with unlimited entries, then the Mens', then the Open. 7. If there are more than 60 participants for any one race, more than one heat will be formed (each team will have to decide how to split the squad - half must perform in each). 8. Each team will be assigned judges from at least two other schools that can officiate exchange zone and drinking method violations 9. If the officials judge that a can was not finished before the competitor exited the exchange zone, they have the right to spontaneously impose a 5-30 second penalty the following lap, and only the following lap. If this occurs on the last, the penalty will be added to the time. 10. Belching is legal, as is spitting, but anything more than saliva warrants a penalty lap. 11. Though vomitting more than once in a race only requires one penalty lap, every sip of beer must be drunk. 12. To ensure that no beer is spilled with such a large competition, cans will be opened seconds before the start instead of during the exchange. 13. All the leftover beer from undrunken open cans will be poured into the champions cup and must be finished by the individualand team champions by dawn.

Years ago, we used to do a variation at Furman called the Rod Dixon Run which was 12 circuits of an approximate 3/4 mile loop on the golf course at night the first weekend of school after Thanksgiving. A beer had to be consumed every lap. This makes the competition more of a drunkfest and a longer run for more place changes in the race. Lots can happen in those last two laps as serious alcohol sets in. You are allowed to thorw up in our race, however it costs you in time to do so unless you absolutely must. Brian Erb Furman 1992

Howdy everyone! Good luck at the Beer Mile!!"
