The Aircraft

The Aircraft is a Pegasus Quantum Ultralight weightshift or trike type of aeroplane powered by a Rotax 912 engine rated at 80 hp. This aircraft is capable of speeds up to 90 mph but will normally cruise around 60 - 65 mph.

The aircraft registration G-RUSA is short for Grus americana, the latin name for the Whooping Crane.

Registered in Britain, the aircraft is being airfreighted to Indiana,where the Whooper Finn team will be collected at the home of Pegasus USA, Bloomfield Indiana, where Rob Rollison, the proprietor, is the main agent for this British made Ultralight aeroplane.

After reassembly and test flying, it will be flown to the west coast of Florida, the starting point of this odyssey.
