Operation Migration
Operation Migration is the Canadian team led by Bill Lishman and Joe Duff who have learned how to imprint migrating birds from hatching and taught them how to fly with ultralight aircraft.

Bill Lishman was the first man to fly with the birds. The Columbia Pictures film 'Fly Away Home' was based on his experiences with imprinting Canada Geese and teaching them a migration route.
Most recently his efforts have been directed to perfecting the imprinting process with Sandhill Cranes. This has led to the sucessful migration and return of a small flock in 1998, with further imprinting experiments in progress.
The ultimate goal is to teach Whooping Cranes to migrate and so re-establish a new flock on an historic migration route.
