Welcome to AFS

AFS is an organization dedicated to peace through the promotion of worldwide intercultural learning and living experiences for secondary school students, teachers, and families from all walks of life.

AFS began with The American Field Service volunteer ambulance drivers during World Wars I and II. In 1947, the group established a program which allowed 51 European students to live for a year with U.S. host families and study in American high schools. Today, approximately 10,000 students and teachers participate in AFS exchanges each year.
