About
the RavenRun
The RavenRun is a run, not a race. It is eight miles of running at an easy pace (well, make that a slow pace...we never said it was easy!) on the soft sand of South Beach.
Anyone can participate. Our group of runners is friendly, and very tolerant of "individuality". In fact, we encourage it, and believe that that is what makes the run so much fun....all of the Characters that we meet on or near the beach...and of course, we include ourselves in the mix. |

Where is the RavenRun? The RavenRun begins every day at the sixth street lifeguard stand on South Beach. |

When is the RavenRun?

What is so darn SPECIAL about the RavenRun? |
Raven has completed the run every day for the past 25 years and four months....Rain or shine, sick or well. January 1, 2000, was the twenty five year (SILVER!) anniversary of Raven's commitment to make the eight mile run every day. |
Raven is currently ranked number eight in the US in StreakRunning....though none of the others have made their runs on sand, particularly on SOFT sand. |

What else do I need to know? |
You don't need to call or make "arrangements" to run, though some people call to find out what the day's route will be (there is a series of different runs...all eight miles long, on a six day schedule). You just need to show up....that's half the battle right there. |

Travel light....don't bring a bunch of stuff that you can't carry with you... |
When you make your first eight mile RavenRun, your name, your nickname, and your hometown will be added to "The List". This is an honor. Any subsequent runs that you complete will "count". There is quite a bit of friendly competition among the runners....who has the most runs?...who has the most outstanding acheivements on the run?...who has the most Swims? |

What about the Swim? Following the Run, there is a short (approx 1/3 mile) swim in the Ocean along the shoreline. Swimming is optional. But it sure feels nice...except in the winter, when only the hard-core and the insane are likely to participate. Hey, we never said we weren't crazy! |
