MACHINE HEAD - BURN MY EYES (9.0 on the Richter Scale)
I had a hard time picking the highlights for this album because the whole thing is killer! It is one of the best heavy metal albums ever, and certainly the best debut ever. From start to finish the intensity never lets up, constantly beating you around the ears. Musically, they are similar to Pantera, but 10 times better and heavier. This album is slow, heavy and brooding, grinding the whole way through but
at a seemingly insane pace. Like most albums released by Roadrunner Records, several versions are available. Personally I own two different versions (that is how awesome the CD is), including the Digi-pak version which contains a brilliant cover version of Poison Idea's 'Alan's On Fire'. If you haven't yet, and like such bands as Pantera, Slayer, and Sepultura, you should rush out and get it immediately. If for some reason you are still unsure, check out the official page below (which is maintained by a fan) for samples of nearly every song!
