F.B.R.S.
The Fédération Belge de Roller
Skating/Federatie van Belgische Roller Skating
(FBRS) is the official governing body of roller
skating sports in Belgium,
affiliated with the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee
(BOIC), the
Fédération Internationale de Roller Skating (FIRS) and the Confédération
Européenne de Roller Skating (CERS).
This federation was fixed in 1909 and has a longterm experience
in three
disciplines:
· artistic roller skating
· rinkhockey
· speed roller skating
Since a short time though, roller inline hockey and acrobatic
roller skating
have been added to these three branches but only in regional
competitons.
The main aim of FBRS is promoting roller skating in
Belgium. Therefore FBRS
organizes and creates facilities for roller skaters by
· providing insurance for skaters (competitive and recreational)
· developing competition rules
· certifying judges and officials;
· selecting Belgian skaters for international competitions
· hosting national championships and international competitions
under
administration of FIRS and CERS
FBRS has, since 1977, been split - according to the Belgian law -
in a
flemish speaking confederation (Vlaamse Roller Bond - VRB) and a
frenchspeaking confederation (Fédération Belge Francophone de
Patinage-
FBFP). All clubs are affiliated to one of these
confederations, roller
skaters can choose to become a member of one of these clubs.
