The second phase to the Wall Centre complex in adds a 46
storey hotel tower with 600 suites and support spaces. At
137 meters (450 ft.), this will be the tallest building in
Vancouver when completed.
The tower is marked by a soaring lobby with a 17 meter high
space frame precast concrete structure that eliminates the
requirement for a conventional core. This innovative
structure gives the base building distinctive form and
creates the opportunity to have glass elevators without
structural shaft enclosures. The glazing will be a tight
skin wrapped around the structure of the building, marked by
several "garden floors" at two levels. The design includes
elements that will make this Vancouver's first "green" high
rise, including low E glass backed by 52% gold frit visible
through the glass, and floor to ceiling internal wood louvers
that contribute transparency and warmth to the building and
assist with natural ventilation.
The building will be a future landmark on the skyline of the
City, incorporating many technological improvements
appropriate for Vancouver's first tower of the new Millennium.
