This tower, 43 storeys high and built in 1983 by Edward
Larrabee Barnes/John M.Y. Lee Architects, is a five sided
sheer prismatic form, with grey-green glass and grey-green
polished granite detailed in sleek flush planes. The
appearance of the building changes when viewed from
different angles; sometimes it is a slab like wall, sometimes a
slender shaft, sometimes a tower cantilevering over a street
corner. At the back of the building is a public bamboo filled
garden and pedestrian arcade, which becomes an inviting
retreat from the noise of the street.
