Some articles have moving illustrations that show a lot about what is being described. Article text is clear, instructive, and humorless, but the text includes links to definitions of terms, especially tools. A strong emphasis is placed on safety. The tool description is especially useful for beginers and calculators are unique and useful for certain projects or units conversion.
Home maintenance information is included, but not timed for the time of year.
The only advertising is subtle links to their "Books that Work" line of how-to books.
A search engine for the site is not included, but the site is relatively small, and organized by clear topics. If the site gets any bigger, a search engine will be needed. The tool dictionary has a search engine.
There are no discussion groups.
The only on-line shopping is for the books at the parent site.
The tool dictionary, and the calculators are very good, but the best
part of the whole site is the Shockwave moving illustrations.
