Erik gets a joke played on himself, rather than the other way around, for a change! Family friend Golda (in the background) put a lot of thought into the gift Erik is unwrapping. She went to my parents' room upon arrival at the house to wrap her gifts, and put a pile of my Dad's clean socks from the laundry on a piece of gift wrap for Erik, without even tape. Erik couldn't figure out what Santa had brought ... or why!
A couple of Erik's friends from Boston College continued the trip down the memory lane of Erik's life. We don't have the transcription of their speech, but if we get it, I'll add it to the site! Afterwards, Darren Snellgrove, one of Erik's former coworkers at Centocor's accounting department, let us in on what Erik was like at work.

We all used to work with Erik at Centocor, and you'll be glad to know that he was just as much fun at work as he was everywhere else!

We thought about telling you what a great job Erik did at Centocor, but what we remember most about Erik is his sense of humor. When I first met Erik I thought he was quiet and fairly serious, but I soon found out that he was far from it... for a start he had a picture of a ferret on his desk, so I should have known he was not so serious!

We have many memories of Erik, but to list a few...

* There was the time he pretended to be a sales rep from India.
* When he played golf so badly that he left his clubs under a tree.
* When he sent Patty an email reminding her to arrange a surprise birthday party for him, and "oh by the way, don't forget the cake!"
* The day he wrote me a note reminding him that I owed him $50 (which I didn't!)
* The day he left Stacy a note telling her to tell him that his new pants looked good.
* The way he would wear a shirt and a tie to work when everyone else was wearing business casual.
* When he called in to say he would be late to work because he was up late the night before watching South Park!
* And perhaps the one that I remember the most, the time that he wrote goofy comments on a spreadsheet that I didn't notice until they had been sent to Centocor's executive team!

Although many of us haven't seen Erik for over a year, we often talk about him. We will obviously miss him very much, but are extremely grateful for the many memories that he gave us.

With much love from Darren Snellgrove and everyone who worked with and knew Erik at Centocor.
