Prince of Wales winnerThe Prince of Wales Award, given annually for outstanding service to agriculture in Devon, and presented at the Devon County Show, has been won this year by Lord Clinton.Living at Heanton Satchville, Merton, he is well known as one of the biggest landowners in the county, owning some 30 tenanted farms.Many are farmed by second and third generation tenants, a policy he firmly intends to continue.He also farms and has well known forestry interests, including the Victoria Sawmills. Lord Clinton is a past president of the Devon Cattle Breeders' Society and the Devon Closewool Sheep Breeders' Society and was an exhibitor at this year's Croyde Spring Festival as well as the Devon County Show.As well as his farming in North Devon, another portion of the estate is centred around the Otter Valley in East Devon where he has two well known dairy herds.Lady Clinton is the new High Sherriff of Devon.
