(Black plastic hanging from ceiling covers beginnings of straw bale roof insulation above it)
We have since decided not to use straw as the insulation because it's such a pain in the butt to work with.

Thanksgiving morning
Snow again!

Happy Thanksgiving to all

The next step is to wait - for 3 months! The bales have to settle, compress with the weight of the roof before being able to plaster the interior or exterior. Otherwise all the plaster would crack as the cabin settles. We will move in right away anyway (we've been living in a 17' travel trailer and the camper part of our horse trailer for the past 3 years). Interior walls, plumbing and all finish work has to be put on hold. After this exhausting week and a half, we're ready for a break! We'll sure miss Jeff, and will be in his debt forever! Thanks Dixie for the muscle you contributed, Howard too. Thanks Mom & Dad & Bobby for being our financial support, and everyone else for your love and encouragement.
