**Polygryridae sp.** This is a snail found in southern New York. The white one in the picture is white due to the outside of the shell peeling off. It was found under leaf litter. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find out any information on it. All I know is what I have observed myself. It feeds on dead plant material, although it will eat cucumber and romaine lettuce, to some degree. It does not seem to breed to easily, as I have not been able to get it to breed. It may only breed at certain times of the year. It's shell is very thin and fragile and is almost transparent. It developes a very big lip when mature and the shell then thickens. If anyone knows anything about this snail or where I can find any information about it, I would GREATLY appreciate it!. |
