This is Tank, the newest member of the Herd. We rescued him on 12/2/00 from the Caroline County Humane Society in Ridgely, Maryland. He was born on August 30, 2000, in conditions unknown. Tank was adopted in late October by another family who promptly returned him on November 2nd, claiming that they "couldn’t afford him."
We found Tank (who was at that time named Kinley) through a search engine on the website Petfinder
www.petfinder.org. We knew that the CCHS was about 1-1/2 hours from our house. But after weeks of searching the internet and visiting numerous dogs nearby, we knew that this dog was the one for us.
This is the posted picture we saw.
On Saturday morning we drove the distance to pick up our new baby. We took Rootie, our beagle, with us to be sure that they wouldn’t try to eat or kill each other. Kinley/Tank was even cuter than his photo and much darker. So we loaded the dogs up in the truck and brought them home.
It took us almost 24 hours to come up with Tank as his new name. We went through almost as much agony as we did trying to name Toby, the newest ferret.
So far things are going well. Rootie is being very tolerant of Tank’s puppy antics. They play for hours and tire each other out. Tank’s housebreaking is a little difficult because he is very stealthy. I am going to have to change my method and start using the long lead in the house until he gets the idea.
Oh, and for anyone else out there with dogs or ferrets or whatever, the best product that I have bought EVER (OK, slight exaggeration) is the Bissell hand-held deep cleaner. It is great for "little accidents."
Here are some photos of Tank in his new home.
