1 rack pork spareribs
1/2 cup dry rub(see receipe below)
barbeque sauce
Dry rub:
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup salt
3 tablespoons garlic powder
4 tablespoons fresh cracked black pepper
1 tablespoon each of:paprika,cayenne pepper, ground thyme,ground celery seed,and onion powder.
Mix all ingredients together
preheat oven to 200 degrees F.Rub rack with dry rub,wrap it tightly in foil,and cook in oven for 5-6 hours. When done,coat in BBQ sauce and reheat over low fire.
It sounds daunting, (I would usually shy away from somethng so involved, but my love of ribs over rode it), but if your going to be home you can pop them in the oven all morning...they are worth it.

Doggie Birthday Cake
This recipe is big enough to feed several dogs, so invite some doggie friend
over to the celebration!
Needed:
2 large cans of dog food
Bread crumbs
Milk
Dog biscuits
Liver pate
Cream cheese
Piping Bag
1. Scoop the dog food into a large bowl and mix well with bread crumbs. Add a
little milk. Mold the mixture into a cake shape. Put onto a serving plate.
2. Cover the top with a thin layer of liver pate. Press bone shaped biscuits
around all sides.
3. If desired, fill a piping bag with cream cheese and write your dogs name or
a loving message on top.
4. Decorate top with suitably shaped dog biscuits. Keep in the refrigerator
until ready to serve.
I am sure your dogs will love it - Willy sure did!

1 cup beef liver, cooked and minced
2 or 3 cloves of fresh garlic, minced
2 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon honey
1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water ( for dissolving yeast)
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups cornmeal
1 3/4 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 cup non fat dry milk
1/2 cup brewers yeast (optional, but some feel it helps to control fleas)
4 teaspoons iodized salt
3 eggs, beaten
1 egg beaten with 1/4 cup milk ( for brushing tops of buiscuits)
Rinse and cut the raw liver into small pieces. Combine with the garlic and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, cover the pot, lower the temperature to simmer and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from the stove and cool. When cool, grind or puree this mixture ( water included) and set aside.
Dissolve the honey and yeast in the warm water and set aside. In a large mixing bowl, blend the flours with the cornmeal, oats, wheat germ, dry milk, brrewers yeastand salt. Add the cooled liver/garlic mixture, the dissolved yeast and the beaten eggs to the dry ingredients. With a large spoon mix this together well.
Turn the mixture out onto a work surface which you've dusted with flour. Knead for at least 4 to 5 minutes. Return the dough to the mixing bowl, cover and place somewhere warm to rest for 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees and grease 2 to 3 cookie sheets.
Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and leave 2 in the bowl. Roll out the third with a rolling pin until its between 1/8 and 1/4 inch thick. Cut and shape into biscuits. Place these fairly close together on the cookie sheet. Repeat with the other 2 balls of dough. You may also chill or freeze whatever dough won't fit into your oven at one time.
Brush the egg/milk mixture over the tops of the biscuits and bake for 1 hour. Turn the oven off and leave the biscuits in the oven overnight, or for several hours, until they are dog biscuit hard.
These biscuits may be frozen in a airtight plastic bag.
