Where are you? ........I am located just off state rt. 29....aprox 20 miles south of interstate 66 at the Gainesville exit. OR......aprox 30 miles west of Interstate 95 at the State rt 17 exit in Fredericksburg (sp?) OR........aprox 45 miles south east of interstate 81 where interstate 66 intersects. OR.........aprox 45 miles north of interstate 64 where it intersects with state rt. 29. The real address is:

21584 Elkwood Crossing

Elkwood Virginia 22718-0037

if you would need to mail anything the address is:

P.O. Box 37

Elkwood Virginia 22718-0037

Directions from the 2 nearest highways as if you were relating to a blind person, or a complete foreigner that has never been through there before. (What I try to do is have someone take directions while I am driving.A teen works great here.)

Ok here goes..........from interstate 66 take the Gainesville exit south following signs for Fredricksburg/Charlottsville/Warrenton (this is a 4 lane with a medium) but does have lights now and then. You will travel south bypassing Warrenton VA for maybe 12 miles passing car dealers, restaurants ect..... State rt 29 is going to intersect with state rt 17 in a town called Opal where 17 will make a left and 29 will go straight....stay in the right hand lanes as this is a BIG truck intersection and most go on to 17.....once you pass thru that intersection you will go just under 8 miles where you will need to keep your eyes peeled to the odometer .....at 7 miles, get in the left hand lane, look for the Post office on the left.....you will turn left there ........ cross over the tracks (aprox 200 feet) and make the immediate RIGHT following the tracks to the South.....I am the 2nd house on the left......Large old L shaped farm house close to the road.

If coming from Interstate 81........take the state rt 50 exit following signs for Washington, DC/ Winchester VA EAST exit.....there is a west exit not more than 300 feet PRIOR to the East exit. Take 50 east about 15 miles or so until you intersect with state rt. 17 which will only go off to the right....(just a 2 lane rd) (( lots of trucks as this is the short cut)) follow 17 to Interstate 66 where you will go East on 66 about 2-3 exits where 17 will again go towards Warrenton Va......The exit is well marked and will have signs for Great Meadows Field events and Warrenton Va. Use the By-pass around Warrenton which will put you right out on 29 ... just make sure you take 29 south.

From 95........take State rt 17 west about 20 miles where you will intersect with Rt 29 in Opal....make a left on to 29....you will go just under 8 miles where you will need to keep your eyes peeled to the odometer .....at 7 miles, get in the left hand lane, look for the Post office on the left.....you will turn left there ........ cross over the tracks (aprox 200 feet) and make the immediate RIGHT following the tracks to the South.....I am the 2nd house on the left......Large old L shaped farm house close to the road.

From 64........In Charlottesville take Rt. 29 North about 40 miles.....(this is a 4 lane) but again has lights.....you will by-pass Culpeper on this rt if you stay off the Business 29 and just stay on the highway once you begin to see Culpeper it will be aprox 10 miles........Watch for the sign for Brandy Station.....(will also have a blinking light) go another apox 4 miles and watch for the Post office on the Right......turn right, cross over the tracks (aprox 200 feet) and make the immediate RIGHT following the tracks to the south.....I am the 2nd house on the left......Large old L shaped farm house close to the road.

Can you get in there with a semi?

This Small Road runs along the tracks BUT does have 2 ways out..........we have had a Semi or two a few times....mostly logging trucks but heck there big! I am not sure a truck that big would fit in the drive way, as the turn would be way tooo tight. But The barn is not all that far from the road.....we have used the road many times to unload before.....there is also area near by where a semi could be parked......A box truck, 4 or 6 horse, or smaller can pull in and turn around in the yard or pasture IF we have not had tons of rain.......I do have some wiggle room if they don't need a big turn around.

Do you have a place to put the babies.IF so how many? Although at this point I only have hot wire.....so, they would have to be stalled.....But I would make old prissy give up her foaling stall 12x24, and I normally have a stall or 2 open. So depending on how many babies like to hang out together.......it is your call. ((I can disinfect when they leave)) ((( has that ever been a problem?))) Also, I would believe that my friend would also have some room but she is a bit farther back off 29.

Can a large 8 horse get in there and turn around.

If it is dry, no problem..........Wet? Wiggle room for a good driver.

Can you do an over night? Showers, breakfast?

Yep.......

If they break down.... Would you be willing to hold a flashlight, call AAA?

Bring them coffee?................Yep.............

If you need anymore info let me know........ please click the name.. or use this: [email protected]
